    Eureka Powerline... Superbroom???

Yes…so did Hoover. It happened in the 1980’s when either the Electrikbroom patent ran out, or when Regina was sold to another company. Both the new Hoover version and the new Eureka version had the same set up with the motor fan close to the nozzle blowing up the dirt into a tall filter bag...

Another person asking what vacuum to buy...

Awww…that’s too bad that the Swiffer Vac is no longer made. I really like mine…so convenient and effective enough for quick clean-ups. I really love the concept of a front suction channel combined with a mopping pad behind it. It looks like the only other manufacturer which offers this now is...

    Never seen this Windtunnel

Indeed, it looks like that great Hoover Tempo Widepath, but it does not have the 14” wide front on the nozzle….like the grey one next to it. Maybe it’s a KMart exclusive or some unique version of it?

Another person asking what vacuum to buy...

Just get a Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150 upright for $280 for the carpets and a rechargeable Swiffer stick vac for $50 for your bare floors. The Kenmore is very powerful and cleans carpets well, and it has some basic onboard tools for cleaning with a hose. For 1/2 hour a week to run through...

Another person asking what vacuum to buy...

It depends on what kind of carpets you have. If you have anything thicker than really flat carpet, you will need a cleaner with a motorized revolving brush - either an upright or a canister with an electrically powered carpet nozzle. Also, if you are used to cleaning furniture and drapes and...

Need advice on which vacuum to purchase next

The neat thing about this Kenmore Elite UltraPlush canister is that it has an LED light on the tip of the adjustable wand. So you have illumination on the cleaning area even when using the bare floor brush, or when you are cleaning in dark areas with the crevice tool.

Need advice on which vacuum to purchase next

I think that you need to consider a vacuum that has a motorized pet hair nozzle for upholstery and stairs. The air-driven turbo nozzles are not as effective and can clog. Therefore, I would recommend a Kenmore Elite Pet-Friendly Plush canister vacuum which has on-board storage for the...

    Which Hoover Canister is this?

I always wondered why these Hoover power nozzles had necks that were off center. Did this make it awkward to push in a straight line? Was it designed to allow better maneuvering around chair legs and corners? Any idea what the purpose was?

    Major smorgusboard of machines available!

It looks like such a large array of vacuums, I am sure there are plenty of collectors in the area interested in adopting one or two. I guess the best advice is to keep the cleaner outside when you first bring it home to make sure no ants or other insects have made their homes inside the...

    Canadian Hoover Junior Convertible

Not really sure what the answer is. I guess depending on the corporate law in each nation, and depending on whether the company was privately owned or publicly traded on a stock exchange, the exact tag name would change. In the UK, you see the letter LLC a lot (limited liability company?)...

    Canadian Hoover Junior Convertible

The corporate “acrobatics” were as follows. Hoover Europe was sold to Italy’s Candy company in 1995. Before that time Hoover Europe and Hoover Canada and Hoover USA were corporately linked so the cleaners sold in those locations were often very very similar. Until the North American Free...

    Canadian Hoover Junior Convertible

It looks like that catalogue page was from a small catalogue store called Consumers Distributing which we had in Canada in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Here’s a summary from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumers_Distributing

    Hoover Clean Sweep Award 1998

I wonder which Hoover model was given to Hingis. Since she is from Switzerland, it would only make sense that she received a 220 volt cleaner fitted with the correct plug for Swiss electrical outlets. Curious to know….

    Around $300 budget

If you want a lighter upright, the new Kenmore Bagged LiftAway Intuition BU4050 can’t be beat. It weighs only 15 pounds and only costs around $200. This Rose Gold version also has a hair eliminator feature that cleans hair off the brush roll. Highly rated by Consumer Reports for good carpet...

    Around $300 budget

I’d go for a Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150 bagged upright. It’s top-rated in Consumer Reports and is a Best Buy at only $270. It’s very good for deep carpet cleaning and you can shut off the brush roll to clean bare floors.

Scans Of 1991 Eureka Style N Bag

Those bags are for Eureka’s Mighty Mite Two compact canisters from the early 1990’s. The neat thing about Mighty Mite Twos is that you can check and change the bag without removing the hose. Note: these will not work in Mighty Mite Ones or Threes - only Mighty Mite II.

    Eureka Ironsides

If you Google “Beaumark vacuum advertisement” you will find a Canadian newspaper ad from 1987 showing the identical Eureka power nozzle. So your Beaumark Roto-Matic Power Team is probably from around that year. Probably one of the last Canadian-made Eureka canisters from the Onward...

Late '80s & Early '90s Eureka Spec Sheets & Catalogs

Thanks for these great images Paul! One of them shows a strange headlight carved out of a smooth Boss motor head - something I have never seen! Very very rare! Fascinating that the 1600 Sweet Sixteen canister body survived way into the mid 1980’s. That’s almost a 20 year run!

Lewyt “Big Wheel” 1955 Corporate How To Film

Glad everyone is enjoying this Lewyt film. Question: is it not a bit weird that the actress takes out that jar of moth crystals from the bedside table? Who the $&@?! keeps moth crystals in the drawer next to your bed? 😳😳😳
