Kirby 512 - What did I just buy?

<a name="start_25250.283832"></a>"@MikePdx - I was thinking of washing the bag as it reeks of that old musty pine air freshener in the picture, I was wondering if it would hold up in a gentle cycle in the wash."   It wouldn't hurt to try. They still make the cloth shakeout bags that will fit...

WHAT WOULD life be like with out bagless vacuum's

    "<a name="start_25245.283804"></a>It's not TTI's fault... <a name="start_25245.283804"></a> ...TTI builds vacuums to the retailer's specifications. ....TTI does manufacture the <span style="font-size: 18pt;">All Metal</span> <span style="font-size: 18pt;">Royal</span> upright vacuums that...

Kirby 512 - What did I just buy?

DEFINITELY a Keeper! I forgot to say "welcome" in my last post. So hello and welcome! I have a 560 model. Other than belt and brush roll, it is mostly original, down to the metal fan. Same with my Classic Omega. I also have a Bissell Powerforce upright. Both of the Kirby machines will...

Kirby 512 - What did I just buy?

Get the motor serviced, make sure the fan is okay, and get a new belt and brush roll on it and I think you will be delighted with how well it performs. If necessary, change out the cloth bag but don't retrofit it with a paper type; it kills the performance. Plus Kirby models are very easy to...

WHAT WOULD life be like with out bagless vacuum's

If they would bring those and remanufactured Hoover twin tub washing machines over here, I would be a happy, happy man.

    Airider is out of business....

Interesting design. They are not for my situation; a turbo nozzle wouldn't cut it around here.

    Trouble finding bags at Sears

Not a lack of love at all... I just prefer American bagged vacuums with reasonably priced parts. I also love Aerus but the lack of distributors in my area has the alarm bells going off. I hope they stay in business.

    Trouble finding bags at Sears

When I bought my Kenmore canister, they were well stocked here. I wonder how long it will be before we are seeing the same thing. Thank goodness for Amazon. There is also a small glimmer of hope; as long as we have Riccar, Simplicity, and Kirby, we will still have real vacuum cleaners left.

    My Craigslist Find Tonight

Have fun Mark! I was gonna hit thrift stores tomorrow but the vacuum gods already smiled on me tonight. Hope you find something wonderful.

    My Craigslist Find Tonight

Thanks for the tips, Ben! Vintagevaclover, that's a sweet Hoover too! The Convertibles are wonderful machines, great on carpets. The tools are anemic, but that's what canister vacuums are for.

    My Craigslist Find Tonight

Oh Okay! *Phew* I'm glad to know when it was made, and even more glad that it's not from your collection! I have seen stolen stuff pop up on craigslist more than once, although the guy that sold it seemed very nice and very decent. This is my fourth Kirby. I (foolishly) scrapped a Classic 1CR...

Another dream kirby 516 thrift shop find!!!

Sweet! What a great find! June 6th must be Kirby Day. I found a nice Heritage II for only $35. Congratulations. That is a beautiful machine.

    My Craigslist Find Tonight

So I was browsing vacuums on craigslist, and I found an ad for a Kirby Heritage II for $35. The pictures looked good, so I decided to check it. The vacuum, other than being a bit dusty from storage, is in great shape. It needs a polish and some buffing but the brush roll is good, the motor...

So I Splurged Over the Weekend

Hello DesertTortoise Thanks for the advice. I looked at the motor protection filter that it is equipped with, and I ordered the upgraded microfilter for the machine online. I will get that installed.   This one has a HEPA exhaust filter on it. I noticed the difference the other night. I had...

I need to take a second to brag on Aerus Electrolux customer service.

I would love to have an Aerus machine, shiny and new, but sadly the closest store is over 100 miles away now. The Beaverton store closed up shop some time ago. I really do not want to drive that far for warranty service.   However, I am very happy to hear that they're still such a class act.

How old would you say this Eureka Commercial Vacuum is?

I would venture to say mid late 70's to very early 80's because of the dial-a-nap. Later ones didn't have "shag" IIRC.

Numatic Hetty with an extra surprise!

Very Nice Surprise I would be very happy if more vacuums included a surprise like that (not gonna spoil it for people who haven't seen the video).

    NSS "Pig"

If it wasn't for the storage space... I would love to have one. Many years ago, I worked as a custodian at a rural school. Unpaved playground, and carpet throughout. The pig was the only vacuum I used that could effectively clean all the low-pile carpet and hold up to the grit and gravel. I...
