Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

@ eurekaprince: They certainly do sound different than any of my other machines. Kind of neat to see that they used ball bearings all around. I was quite surprised at the high fill point.Might take me a couple months before I ever reach that fill line. Whoever owned this machine certainly loved...

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

Getting the springs back on was a pain in the butt, but thankfully they're back on. (After like 6 attempts) Indeed it is, might even make it my Daily Driver and preserve my Hoovers. Heh :P

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

Thanks for the information! I popped the hood off and removed some yellow shag carpet fluff.. Bearings appear to be fine and same goes for the motor brushes. They look practically new. -Alex

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

Ah nice! It certainly does vibrate the carpet a little more than my Hoover Convertible. The PowerTouch switch is going to take some getting used to, but overall I'm very pleased. The one on this one appears alright but I'll be sure to be gentle with the switch if that's the case. I don't...

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

Went to the local Swap Meet with my younger brother today. Wasn't finding much of anything, just a random assortment of beat up power tools, filthy Kodak cameras and clothes. However among the flea market junk was this Eureka. The cord winder and box top bag instantly stood out to me, the...

Which ones do you seem to use the most?

They're all my daily drivers!! (picture I took awhile ago of my collection; Missing the yellow/brown Hoover Portable, Hoover model 725, and Hoover Brush Vac) Since my collection is reasonably sized, I usually switch around machines. Helps keep the grease and oil circulating. For carpets I...

    Scary Vacuum Cleaners

Funnily enough, when I was about 6, watching "Scream" with a bowl of popcorn on hand. Been a while since I last saw that movie, but one of the scenes made me jump and spill the bowl.. Didn't really feel like picking up the greasy kernels with my hand so I lugged out the Hoover Elite (the black...

    Hoover model 725

Will do! And I'll be sure to look at that guide the next time I have to look for correct fitting brush strips. -Alex

    Hoover model 725

Sounds good! This was the first machine I've come across with the non eyelet brushroll.

    Hoover model 725

@portable: Thanks! I quite like the color combo as well. The bumper was on there when I got it, and thankfully it buffed out nicely. Here's hoping it lasts a lot longer than 50 years. @vacuumlad1650: I generally service coffee can machines. Though I wouldn't use the earlier models (without...

    Hoover model 725

Got another coffee can Hoover back on the road (or should I say carpets?) This one took me quite a while to complete, but I'm glad it's put back together and freshened up. Both bearings were awfully gummy so I placed a few drops of zoom spout oil to loosen up the harden old grease, letting it...

SELLING OLD VACUUM CLEANERS ON EBAY - A REALITY CHECK

There are few of us "young people" that do indeed love antique items. Some people have an interest in various things such as, cameras, radios, record players, clocks, etc. Its a bit of shame that not too many have an interest in old vacuums. Personally I believe the build quality to be far more...

Early Hoovers, pumpers, Early Eureka -Columbus, Ohio

How much are you asking for the red trimmed model 300? Also do you happen to have a parts Hoover model 725 motor or at least a metal fan blade for one? -Alex

    Regina Electrikbroom finds

Ohhh, I love the bamboo pattern on the second one! Its kinda weird that these machines were virtually unused after all this time. Sure is a pretty lucky find! :)

Needed: Electrolux Model G rear wheel

I'll give that a shot, I had almost forgotten about the plastic spacers I have in my tool box. So I'll just shave down the remainder of the wheel stem, drill out the plastic spacer to fit and glue it in place. Thanks!! -Alex

Needed: Electrolux Model G rear wheel

As my luck would have it, the living room coffee table leg took out a rear wheel while I was vacuuming the rug. I found all but one piece so I won't be able to repair the broken wheel as I had originally planned. So does anyone have a spare Model G wheel they're willing to sell? Thanks in...

    Another Restored Hoover 700

Well Hoover did make an official adapter for the model 28 to fit Handi-Sac style bags. The model 28 having a round exhaust hole would have enabled it to fit on other coffee can Hoovers. However these are really rare to come by. Thankfully the other method is relatively easy. You take a standard...

    Another Restored Hoover 700

I think they're both fairly equal. Both 700s have new brushroll brushes, both have good condition fans, both well lubed bearings, and both have a paper bag inside. The only difference really is that the one I just restored sounds much quieter than my first 700 (the one with the black bag.) and...
