    Hoover model 725

Hello Pete, Yes that's right, the model 725 is indeed a single speed machine. During the restoration I spotted no evidence of cut or missing wires. I would guess it would depend on when that model was released. Perhaps the 2 speed machines were later production or possibly early production...

    CRT tvs

Still use CRT TVs myself! One is a woodgrain 21 in Toshiba from 1987 and the other being a woodgrain 12 in Emerson from 1991. I'd love to get an old 50s or 60s tube/transistor hybrid set someday! Something about the warm glow is simply appealing to the eye. Modern sets are nice as well, but you...

    Vacuum Shipping Help

Thanks for all the great advice and suggestions! I actually have a tube bulb box, and after some measurements, it looks like it'll fit perfectly! It's quite thick but will still be reinforced inside and out to keep it from caving in.

    Vacuum Shipping Help

Wow that really sucks, I guess I've just had good luck with my local post. If the wheels were to break, I might recommend him to use garage rollers as replacements. Hopefully enough tape, bubble wrap and possibly packing peanuts will be enough to keep it from getting damaged.

    Vacuum Shipping Help

I'll make sure to remove them during shipping in that case. Possibly the front wheels as well just to be safe. That doesn't sound too bad and I plan on using USPS as they're much more gentle (well in my experience thus far.) with packages than UPS is. I don't have a FedEx nearby so that carrier...

    Vacuum Shipping Help

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me ship a machine out to friend. I'm planning on giving a friend out in Atlanta, Georgia a Hoover model 700, which was a duplicate within my collection. However I have never shipped a vacuum cleaner before and far east. (As I live in...

Electrolux AF & GE Roll Easy

Quieter Wheels The wheels were rather noisy when I pushed and pulled it by the handle. A kind of plastic on plastic rubbing sound. My fix for this issue was taking the wheels off and applying some white lithium grease paste on the metal rings and on the inner plastic wheel hubs itself...

Electrolux AF & GE Roll Easy

Had a wonderful Thursday this past week. Met up with my good friend Rick B. and his buddy Marc at Denny's for lunch here in my home town. Got to discuss vacuums, tube radios, cars, etc. Just an overall enjoyable time! However before we departed ways I purchased two machines from Rick. The...

Daily Driver? Weekly Driver?! Monthly Driver??!

I don't have a daily driver per-say. I usually rotate machines to keep the lubricants flowing. Though If I'm expecting guests I pull out the Hoover model 69 since it fluffs up the carpet quite nicely. The coffeecan machines do so as well, but I seldom use them to keep from wearing them out since...

    Old Vac Shops

@ PR-21: Very neat story! I believe there was a time where some of us didn't know we would end up collecting these old machines. I certainly didn't (though as a kid I did enjoy vacuuming) It wasn't until a 1 cent purchase of a vintage machine that would spark my interest in these machines. It's...

    Old Vac Shops

Was wondering if anyone has any old Vacuum store stories to tell. I just visited this old school store/repair shop that I recently discovered near my town. I already had a go to guy near me but a quick search in google showed a shop in the next town with various old machines and appliances in...

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

Thanks for the information! I'm going to leave them be, as there is zero play and spins freely. Definitely a pretty low hour machine. -Alex

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

A look under the hood and motor brushes. All appears to be in order, bulb has darkened a bit, but it still works and to be expected. Should mention, any leftover dust shown was removed before putting it back together. I'm not exactly sure but I shouldn't have to service these bearings right...

Mint! Eureka PowerTouch Cordaway model 2083

@ TheSpiritOf76 Thanks for sharing the advertisements, and information on this machine! Gotta love the hey-day of shag carpeting. @ rugsucker It might be the Bravo, it's been so long since I last saw that machine. However I do remember that it had the push on style bags (Like Hoover's Type A...
