    Kirby Motor Maintenance

I'm not a believer in regreasing bearings, but I won't get into that right now. I would replace them, they aren't that expensive. Make sure to hone/polish the commutator. If the fan is plastic and it is worn, replace it as well. Make sure to post pictures, we all love shiny Kirbys!

    Look what I found!

Swiper no swiping. LOL. No one knows how to spell anymore because of cell phones.

    REALLY Proud of this!

Plus their foot has been all over it. Ugh.

    Good Powerhead Cainster?

So did I. I meant we are still able to get the original style brushrolls, with the metal endcaps. We have three or four in stock and I'm 95% sure they aren't NOS. I'll double check when I'm in during the week.

    Good Powerhead Cainster?

Just FYI, you actually can still get the brushrolls for the older Kenmore powerheads. Those have to be some of the best brushrolls around.

    Whats your favorite vintage vacuum?

Wow, that GE is awesome. I've never seen that one before. I like the unique handle setup. Kudos to you for the 800 restoration- I'll bet it's nicer than when it was new. Beautiful. Now I want one!

Another box waiting on the porch!!

MMM. I love those (hence my username). That one looks great. Enjoy!

Are any Hoovers MAade in the USA anymore?

Filter Queen uses chinese ametek motors. It's sad. Most motors are chinese now, unfortunately. I think some ametek/lamb motors are still made in the states, though. For large motors, I know Baldor continues to make great quality motors here. I could have sworn I saw some Hoover bags in the...

    Royal Uprights - Rite-Hite or Au-Toe-Matic?

The screw type is the best in my opinion. The toe systems do not stand up to abuse very well- especially the 5 position setup. The release pedal gets bent and the mechanism becomes difficult to use. The most recent infinate toe system works really well, but it wears out within a few years of...

    "new" hoover D-A-M

DAMs take Hoover D bags, which are not too hard to find. Any good vacuum store will have them. It's kind of funny, they're designed to need frequent replacement.

    Dyson vs. Royal Everlast/Kirby

Well, it's really hard to compare them. They're like apples and oranges. The design theory behind them is so different. Royals are my favorite vacuums, but after hearing people talk about the newer Dysons, I found a few and tested them out. I still am not wild about Dysons, but the newer ones...

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

Also, the reason he was rude to you is because you were rude to him. Perhaps you were just sad and shocked by the "tragedy".

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

It's his vacuum at the moment, not yours. It's his loss if he ruins it. Yes, the bags are rare but at least he was trying. He just increased the value of the rest of the surviving bags.

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

@ akabent: I agree completely. I'm just glad to see a seller actually try and clean something up before they sell it- we all know there is more than enough dirty crap on the bay. How was he supposed to know? Most people don't even know that vacuums are collectible. His opening bid was completely...

    Good Powerhead Cainster?

You could always get my favorite canister- a PowerTank. They meet your requirements. Nice long flexible cord, 8 or 10 foot hose, amazing powerhead that grooms really well, extremely high filtration, and power that will blow you away. The only downsides- they aren't quiet and you have to manually...

Dyson: Can they really live up to what they say?

Well Boulder is like a state in and of itself. I'm surrounded by people who believe every bit of advertisement they hear, so of course all the new fads are what people are into. Boulder is extremely affluent and everyone has a degree in something or other, and yet no one can think for...

Dyson: Can they really live up to what they say?

Sablekid, I don't mean to contradict you, but around here the Dysons hold their value better than the Kirbys. The Kirbys tend to lose 75% of their value within a year while the Dysons sell for close to new prices. Royals hold their value better than Kirbys as well. (again, around here at least)...

Dyson: Can they really live up to what they say?

Kirby16, don't worry about it. Unless you smash vacuums into walls repeatedly for fun, the nozzle won't crack or bend. One time we got a Royal in from a mental health center and I thought it was a bit ironic as the front of the nozzle was bent inwards a good 1- 1 1/2 inches. They must have some...

    Sebo part help..

Sebo dealers should keep those on hand. We replace them all the time, so we try to keep a few on hand.

I could not find teh unusual vacuum thread ....

Wow, that it really cool. I wonder if they ever made a 120v version for the US? That wand is really something else. Looks to be well made. Is it quiet?
