What kind of hoses do you like?

Simple... I prefer the simple bent tube style hose ends, as this Miele one pictured below. Often find that hoses with built in ergonomic handles pinch my hand or are uncomfortable to use. It is very rare for canister cleaners here to have a power hose (generally sold with a suction only...

    Miele Repair- S381

Your £10 was a bargain David! Looks a bit of a state in your before pics there, but I bet it cleaned up nicely. I've not used a canister cleaner with power nozzle except for a few Dyson Motorhead models- the DC05 model was pretty nice as it is not that much heavier than a turbo brush. I do...

    Miele Repair- S381

poor Miele... Hi tolivac Thought the motor is likely a sealed unit. Shame it is so loud...I've had motors in many other vacs look absolutely filthy with fine dust (and often brick dust in Numatic Henrys) yet still run quite smoothly and quietly. May just continue to use it roaring away until...

    Now here's a strange bird...

Second image Would agree with vac-whisperer, the narrow stream-lined shape would certainly have been useful pulling it along narrow aisles and seat rows. But just a guess! Looking at the picture more closely, the lady appears to be demonstrating opening the dust container, so it seems to be...

    Miele Repair- S381

Final pic The faulty telescope tube. If anyone has worked on one of these previously, is there a knack to removing this button without gauging the plastic? I appreciate US models may well be different as the majority have power hoses. many thanks Rob

PCB fault Here you can see what prevented the vacuum from switching on. This is the leg of the thermal cut-out switch (from a quick Google search).

    Miele Repair- S381

Hi all Following on from the recent Miele discussions, my red cylinder/canister model arrived yesterday (spares/repairs for £18 on ebay UK). The initial fault was that it would not run. I tracked this down to a bad solder connection on the thermal cut-out component on the motor PCB. Having...

    very strange miele s200 pic

vintage Numatic Love the custom named Hetty! How did that come about, did you request it directly from Numatic? I have the Henry toy model to go with mine :-) The only picture I have of mine is without the tools currently, I'll add another once I get home of the whole set up. The hose is a...

    very strange miele s200 pic

Hi Edgar, I love the design of these older Miele's, are they still a regular find in Belgium? Do you know if they were sold in the UK at all? Models from the late 80s onwards do still appear on ebay here from time to time, and always seem very popular. The green model on the right appears...

    Dyson with a difference

Other motors... Hello, I've done similar with a DC08 and motor from a Sebo K cylinder, worked very well with possibly more airflow than the original motor. I know some would regard that as sacrilege... in my defence the Sebo was a skip find! Think I kept the same black motor 'bucket' and...

    Your Daily Driver

For me.. Dyson DC24...a little less shiny than in this picture from a few months ago! I also have a Bosch/Siemens cylinder cleaner (private label for department store John Lewis) that I use for kitchen and bathroom tiles, and the rougher jobs like broken glass when something is dropped...

~ Vax Mach Air Force ~

Hi Jack, Very nice! Looks to be a well thought out cleaner. Have you had a chance to put it through its paces yet? With 300 airwatts I imagine it will have pretty good performance! Rob

    Dyson technical question

Clutch issue.. Hi Karl, This sounds like perhaps the clutch is faulty or worn- is there a certain position you have to put the dial at for the brush to turn? It is possible that the clutch is not seated correctly in the brush housing, but this would be unlikely unless someone has fitted it...

    I've been..

The face of Henry... Another theory I'd heard was that due to the rough nature of commercial cleaning, when the Henry model first launched (without face, and presumably with the Numatic logo instead of a name), a fair few were returned with trivial faults such as damaged floortools, cables etc...

    Bidone Aspiratutto- Alfatec

Evening all, I've come across this interesting Italian vacuum in a few industrial design posts over the years, and thought I'd share the link on here for everyone's viewing and to see if anybody has some further information on them. Appear to be a very basic shop-vac style construction, with...
