    Testing the waters

Hi all, I find myself in a similar situation as some other members have recently experienced. I'm out of room, and have more vacuums than I can responsibly care for. Realistically, I should be liquidating most of my collection. However, this is very frightening, uncharted territory for me. For...

    Canadian Electrolux AP vacuum cleaner

Not looking to be "that guy". But, just to be fair, the original post did state that the PN was not original.

Happy Friday — Which of your machines have you enjoyed running today?

Dealing with some health issues for a while now. So, I haven't been visiting here much, and I've really struggled to get anything done around the house. The vacuuming has really gotten neglected. But, the last one I pulled out was my freshened-up Bissell PowerForce bagged, 1739. I think I've...

    Electrolux Ambassador 3

Nice! Sounds like you got a good deal! I have an Ambassador III that I picked up off the side of the road several years ago. Mine is from the dark grey era. It cleaned up really nice, and works great, although I don't use it much. Mine is kind of growly on wind down.

    Vacuum bags find

Good deals, y'all. For some reason, I never see vacuum bags at the thrift stores around here.

Letting go, letting go, letting go...

Charles, I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t know what to say, other than to echo what’s already been said. It’s very generous of you to offer your collection, or parts of it, to others. Like John, I’m going to need to thin out my collection as well. But, for much different reasons. I wish you...

New Zealand Hoover Constellation - Model 885A. #12372

Poor thing. At least it still (kind of) works. When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was painted like a globe. It got me thinking; I wonder if anyone has ever done that. I’m not encouraging it (LOL)…just wondering. The bumper could be the equator.

    Belts for Kenmore Whispertone upright

Thanks! I'll see if I have better luck trying to put one on the Kenmore.

    Belts for Kenmore Whispertone upright

Thanks, Alex! Is that UB, with no number after it? If so, that's the same belt that my Panasonic MC-5116 was supposed to use, and I bought a two-pack. They're actually UB-8, but the package says "Replaces Type UB". I couldn't stretch it far enough to make it fit the Panasonic. If it's the same...

    Belts for Kenmore Whispertone upright

Hi all, As I'm making slow progress with getting my Whispertone upright cleaned up, I realized I still need to buy a belt/belts for it. The factory part number is 20-5275. Granted, I've only just started searching. But, so far, I haven't found anyone selling the genuine Kenmore belts. I see...

    Hoover Constellation 86

So...did they ever choose an official name for the switch on the handle?

Do you remember your household vacs?

The earliest vacuum memory I have is a gold and brown Hoover Portable. Around the same time, there were two blue Hoover Lark stick vacuums. Probably when my parents had their first deep pile carpet installed in their room, vacuums with brushrolls appeared. I remember an orange Eureka canister...

    looking for a kirby D.S. 80

I found one free on our local Craigslist recently, but I didn't pursue it. I was in one of my "I can't pick up every vacuum I see" phases at the time. I have no idea what kind of shape it was in, but it was gone fast!

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

I saw an old, wooden Bissell at one of the thrift stores, probably a few months ago. I forget what the model name was, but it's a common one. I must have been feeling a little down on myself that day or something, or I was trying to be responsible and not buy everything I see. Plus, I think they...

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

Husky (or anyone else), Do you have any idea how old the Whisk-it is? I thought the color and the style of the lettering made it look very 1970s. But, aside from how much crud is built up in the brushroll, it appears to be in really good condition. Unlike the bigger one, which I'm 99% sure is...

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

Hey all, On my most recent visit to my family home, where I grew up, I snagged a couple of Bissell carpet sweepers that were left to decay in the basement. I’m not sure why I wanted them. I just have strong sentimental attachment to things. And, I hate to see anything abandoned and neglected...

    And Now .....THE CONVERTIBLE LIST!!!!!!!

Hey Paul. Another impressive compilation! I noticed, for the model U4145, you have a question mark for motor amps. If you're interested, here's the tag from one that I "fostered" a while back.

    Bagged thrift store sightings

Deja vu! I hit two thrift stores today, and only saw one vacuum. Ironically, it was a nearly identical Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive to the one I spotted a couple of weeks ago. It was the same purple color and everything. I took a little closer look at this one. Man! That's a huge brushroll...
