    Hoover Quick Broom

The Hoover Quik-Broom As the.others said, are quite decent lightweight cleaners. I own an S2087 deluxe three speed.model which, when I use it on the sheet vinyl flooring in my bathrooms, I have to set on low speed because.the nozzle will actually stick to the floor on medium or high speed! As...

Pink and white Cadillac upright for sale

Cadillac vacuum cleaners Were manufactured by the Clements Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois beginning in 1911. Not sure if they're even still in production, but more than likely not. The last time Consumer Reports tested them was in 1959.

hard surface flooring adaptors for upright vacuums

Love the ingenuity And it's a very good thought! Now that you mention it, you could use any of the small nozzle attachments that come with the newer Hoover uprights with friction-held tools, including the small turbine-driven brush-an arrangement that would prove handy for carpeted stairs.

    The original Hoover Elite upright

At my local thrift store, I recently hit a long-awaited jackpot; A Hoover Elite 350 U4463-900, complete with its unused attachment set! Then, scarcely a month later, I found a Hoover Elite 200 U4455 at the same store, and in equally good.condition! After a thorough cleaning and a belt...

hard surface flooring adaptors for upright vacuums

If you haven't the room for a canister cleaner, you may want to look into the Hoover Flair model S2200, which is a slim, lightweight stick cleaner with amazingly high suction and two rows of bristles in the nozzle which can be extended for hard floors or retracted for carpets. It does a...

    The Dual-Voltage Hoover

Dual-voltage Hoover During the late 1990s, Hoover made a dual-voltage Guardsman upright, model U4291, That was available in the US. It was very similar to the cleaner pictured above, except the entire base was black with a clear furniture guard, a deep gray bag with a vertical stripe pattern...

    Kenmore Carpet Extraction System

This machine was originally called the Kenmore Power Spray carpet cleaner, and was manufactured and sold.during the 1970s and 1980s. There were actually several different models, with at least one having a power nozzle that Sears referred to as the "Spraymate", which improved its carpet cleaning...

Roomba acting weird.. is it because of the dog/cat fur?

Another unfortunate problem with the Roomba is its inability to deep-clean carpets the way a conventional vacuum cleaner can. When Consumer Reports tested the Roomba several years ago, they found that its carpet cleaning performance was far below even the lower-rated uprights and powernozzles...

    montgomery wards canister

Very nice cleaner, Massagemiracle! I always loved those canned-ham style Eurekas, as well as their twins from Penneys and Wards. Always a superb combination of style, power and durability! By the way, what kind of miniature power nozzle is featured in the photo?

a 1972 Eureka Cordaway upright ive NEVER seen before...

Pancake vs. Blender motor In discussing Eureka uprights, I've often heard of their motors being described as occurring in two types-pancake and blender. Being far more familiar with Hoover than most other brands, I have two questions-what differentiates the two types of Eureka motor, and is...

    1960's Regina brooms

Truth be told... With gas prices being.what they are today, flying on a broom or vacuum cleaner may well be preferable to driving...LOL

    1960's Regina brooms

That's quite an attractive array of Electrikbrooms you have! The models from the 1970s and 1980s were especially stylish, with all the different patterns on their fabric filter sleeves. Years ago, my mother had one styled in Harvest Gold, with a gold, brown and white paisley print sleeve, and...

a 1972 Eureka Cordaway upright ive NEVER seen before...

It was indeed a Sanitaire... I would often see my grandmother's cleaning lady using it while my brothers and I visited her. The nameplate directly over the Dial-A-Nap (whose lowest setting was marked Patio) read Sanitaire in the older, All-capitals style, and the data plate on the underside of...

a 1972 Eureka Cordaway upright ive NEVER seen before...

Very nice find! That cleaner reminds me of a Sanitaire model 623 my paternal grandmother had back in the 1970s and 1980s, except hers lacked the cord reel and headlights, and the trim was wild moss green instead of yellow. Does the cleaner run smoothly?

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

Getting back to the 1930s and 1940s Consumer Reports... Trebor, would you happen to have those articles on hand? I've seen the ones from the 1950s on this website, and I'd love to see the older ones as well!

    Electro Hygiene Deluxe

I'd say you've done quite a good job of restoring the cleaner. If you are looking for wands and other attachments, you may want to try your local vacuum cleaner repair.shops, as the design.for.those attachments carried over to later Royal models made as recently as 2000. One example of a similar...

    Purple Hoovers

Didn't Agnes Moorehead have a friend (or friends) who were with the Hoover Company? I seem to.remember hearing something about that. And since Hoover vacuum cleaners were prominently featured in the 1963 film "Who's Minding the Store?" and on the TV series "Bewitched", both of which featured...

    Purple Hoovers

The Hoover you speak of is.the Convertible.model 33 (1962-64), finished in dusky lavender and pearl white. To my knowledge, their were no other Hoover models with that color scheme.
