    1963 Kenmore upright

Very nice cleaners! Glad to see those classics are in the hands of someone who appreciates things that are made to last.

    1963 Kenmore upright

If you get a chance, I'd like to see that page. Meanwhile, best of luck in your search for that 1963 Kenmore. I wish I could help you with that, but the oldest Kenmores I've ever seen in my general vicinity are the Duo-Power hardbody uprights-and quite infrequently at that.

Some HOOVERS from my recent trip to Ohio.

Beautiful Hoovers, all three! Shining examples of the elegantly functional designs Hoover was known for, from the brilliant mind of industrial designer Richard Wareham. May there be many more beats, sweeps and cleans in their future!

    1963 Kenmore upright

That upright is one of the last Birtman Electric designs for Sears, isn't it? Anyone know when the Singer-made, twin fan Kenmore uprights first appeared?

    Oh I love Hoover Canisters!!

Love your Dimension 1000 I also have that same model, S3277, for which i not only have the original power nozzle, but also a dark blue Powermax nozzle which coordinates very well with the canister's dark blue trim. Here is a photo of mine, with the original power nozzle.

    Hoover Concept One

To remove the Concept One's outer bag, first remove the disposable bag and then the bag adapter tube by gently prying back the retention clips on either side of the adapter while pulling the adapter back and then up. Next, to remove the white plastic plate which fastens the outer bag to the...

    Vintage rental carpet shampooers

Anyone remember Carpet Magic machines? Years ago, the supermarket where my mother used to shop rented both the Carpet Magic canister-type steam cleaners and rotary-brush shampooers, and also sold the complete line of Carpet Magic vacuum cleaner bags and belts.

    Citation vs Convertible

I know there was one made for Montgomery Ward, the catalog #870, which was a self-propelled model finished in a bright gold and off-white color scheme. It was tested and recommended by Consumer Reports in 1976, along with the similar Hoover Dial-A-Matic U6039.

    Hoover model U3109--Attachments??

A friend of mine has a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner (In addition to a Hoover Encore Supreme upright) which is good for day-to-day surface cleaning of carpets and floors. However, they cannot match the deep-cleaning power of a conventional full-sized vacuum cleaner on carpets. Furthermore...

    Hoover model U3109--Attachments??

Frankly, I would give him the Kenmore, both because he won't have to buy bags for it and, should it need service, parts are readily available through any Sears store.

    Hoover model U3109--Attachments??

You're very welcome! As a Concept One owner myself, may I congratulate you on your find! It truly is a marvel of cleaning efficiency! Hete is mine, a 1989 model U3315-070.

    Hoover model U3109--Attachments??

The hose adaptor for the Concept One takes the form of a wide, shallow plate with a castor wheel at the bottom and an L-shaped lock at the top front. To connect the convertor, you place a pair of projecting fins at the back of the convertor onto the lower rim of the cleaner's carpet nozzle...

    Private Label Royal Metal Uprights

In a YouTube video I recently watched, there was a "Jason" brand upright vacuum cleaner, which looked exactly like one of the older Royal revolving brush uprights. Any idea who sold that cleaner? The video is listed as "the JASON vac"

    eureka world vac

Unfortunate but true, the Eureka World Vac, as well as the similar Powerline Plus and Bravo! Series did have a number of reliability problems during the 1990s. In 1993, my mother bought a Eureka Bravo! The Boss model 9334AT, which constantly clogged, went through belts like crazy, and had its...

A vacuum like the concept two?

During the 1980s, Kirby tried to approximate that idea with their Heritage II 2HD model by affixing a rack to the front of the upright unit's tall handle which held Kirby's Split Second cordless hand cleaner (which was basically the same as the Douglas RediVac cordless.) In fact, the storage...

    1934b Eureka

Quite a marvelous find! In this day and age of chintzy, disposable "plastivacs," that Eureka really is a breath of.fresh air. It's very similar to the Sanitaire commercial uprights, which have long been known for their efficiency and reliability. I personally have a Hoover Guardsman commercial...

    Big Box vacuums - 80s and 90s

I remember fondly the Hoover Convertibles that K-Mart carried during the 1980s; model U4393 (the basic model in Jade Green and Oyster White), the model U4395 (the midrange model in Deep Rust Brown and Desert Beige) and model U4397 (the deluxe model in Honey Beige and Desert Beige with Ebony...

    Another HOOVER arrived!!

Good fortune has indeed favored you! I remember seeing that self-same model in a janitorial supply catalog around 2000, lusting after it with a purple passion. Fortunately I purchased my C1631 two years later, and that helped satiate my desire. That Hoover is quite an exquisite find, and I am...

    Kirby Sweet Aire/Odorific

According to the model 518 manual (Kirby's 1958 model), Sweet-Aire imparted a pine scent to the air when used in the Sani-Em-Tor's scent infuser. It would probably smell as if you had just cleaned your home with Pine-Sol.
