    Lewyt 1947 - 1960

There were two wire coils in the hose (If you notice the hose is striped with a separate colour on each of the coils too).

    Lewyt 1947 - 1960

The 24V powernozzle circuit wasnt grounded. It was designed to be an isolated circuit (aka you would have to touch both connections to get a shock (a single wire ran down the inside of the wands and the wand itself was the other pole for the circuit). When the primary and secondary windings...

Then in the 1980s they changed to this style. They were out of the market entirely in the 1990s but then tried to make a comeback with the Chinese made machines in 2000 but that didnt last long

    Lewyt 1947 - 1960

One of the last Lewyts from around 2001 - This was the top of the line. Smith Marchand Corona still owns the rights to the name and had this series made in China for sale here under the Lewyt name. (Picture is from my web page - part of my collection)

    Unusual Electrolux Model V??

The vacuum in the photo is an Electrolux model 6. Almost the same as the model 5 but it didn't come with the runners and the handle is all silver instead of having the bakelite inserts. (From what I have seen it also had a shorter hose and no upper wand)

Identify this old (50's?) Electrolux found in storage!

I did a bit more checking and I may have found it on a list of Sweedish machines - same body design as above but in blau (blue) Model Z26 1944-1949

Identify this old (50's?) Electrolux found in storage!

its very similar to the model Z48, but it isnt one. The switch is different and the colour appears different too. Though that could be just the picture. It looks to me very like a model 36 (pic below), Though if the colour is different it may be a slightly later model in the 40 series

Hi everyone and thank you for the kind words. I try to provide what ever information I can. Re the Regina style GE machines - that goes into the history of Switson Industries in Canada. Door to door sales. Sleazy?

To be quite honest, getting rid of door to door salesmen has been very detrimental to both the industry and the consumer. Yes there always were some very shady salesmen. But there were also some very good ones. By having the salesman show the vacuum in the customers home the customer was...
