Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

I don't know why it bothers you so much. So what if Matsushita built them. Why is that so offensive to you? Are you equally bothered that Whirlpool farms their current vacuum production out to Tacony? If they farm their vacuum manufacturing out today, why not three decades ago? Why would...

he interesting Kenmores are all in Florida

I would buy this in a heartbeat if I lived within half a days drive. Unique, nice condition and oh so interesting. http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/for/4647693476.html One of my other oddballs, the Swamp Creature, came from Daytona.

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

Yep, one of the all time great canister vacuums. Their ease of use and durability are amazing to me. Only the paucity of hoses makes me pause before using mine on a routine basis.

    The time has come.

No price on the Riccar 1700? The Shop Vac Mighty Mini is interesting. Did Shop Vac make it in the US or was it another brand vacuum with the Shop Vac name on it? Does it say where it's made? Are bags available for it? Any wands or floor tool with it?

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

The first generation of the Powermate such as the one shown wasn't so well developed. Subsequent generations have stood the test of time and have become the industry standard. Current production Kenmore Powermates, Hayden Deluxe, Centec, Nutone and Panasonic powered floor brushes are all...

I Need some vintage Kenmore bags

Very clever Fantomfan. I am definitely learning things here. I have a couple of vacs where that technique may save me some grief finding bags and allow me to adapt HEPA bags to vacs not intended to use them. Very clever indeed. Is that the original color scheme of that vacuum? Wow!

Kenmore Canister find at the sales today

Amazing find. I can't believe the beautiful condition it's in. Was this from a collector? Those are such well made vacuums. Everything is high quality and fits just so. Nothing about them is cheap. The round hole in the rear face allows you to plug the hose in and use it as a blower...

This is the ultimate old Chrysler product IMHO

Shotguns are great for close quarters combat. Every squad in the Marines has a shot gunner. The WWI name for them was the "trench broom". I'm more of a mortar guy myself. I especially like the auto loading AMOS 120 mm mortars from Bofors. They can be truck, boat or ship mounted and have...

This is the ultimate old Chrysler product IMHO

Eh, not necessarily a suicide mission. Activating something by timer is not unusual, gives whomever set the device time to egress to a safe locale. The blast radius of something that is man portable won't be so big as to make safe egress impossible. Ever see one of these...

Another visit from the Hose Fairy

Bebring, you didn't see this or something just like it did you? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kenmore-Canister-Vacuum-Electric-Hose-/190997715575?pt=US_Vacuum&hash=item2c7859da77 I have two of these, brand new. Not quite the same as an original Kenmore hose. They work ok but the pigtails are a...

Good stuff at an estate sale...

Notice the x-mas lights are still wrapped in their boxes. Bet they saw one or two seasons of use max and never again, heh, heh, heh.

This is the ultimate old Chrysler product IMHO

Not quite. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun-type_fission_weapon For that era I was very surprised to see that technology shown on TV. I didn't think it was in the public realm. Probably 99% of the people who watched that movie had no idea what they were seeing. Btw, my Mom was on the...

    Who manufactures vacuum hoses?

That Hanmi F-Handle, hose and the direct connect end for the canister is what I need. If I can figure out where to buy the components and assemble them I can in theory at least make two wire electric hoses for my old straight end hosed Kenmores pretty much indefinitely. Keep the original...

    Who manufactures vacuum hoses?

Kirbylux77, that's the sort of information I am looking for. Thanks. Sebo_fan, that e-mail link doesn't do a darn thing. No one replies. It's a black hole.

    Who manufactures vacuum hoses?

Not from the US. When you try it refuses to send without an account number.

Another visit from the Hose Fairy

New? Where? No, seriously. The only new ones I see are dark gray and availability is iffy. I have one on order from Sears, part number 2405. It is shown as a current part but the one I ordered a month ago isn't even on back order. That part just says "Pending". I bought one from a place...

    When did Singer...

I'm still interested to know how Ryobi fit into the history of Singer vacuums. Anyone know? Dysonman1, how about you?

Another visit from the Hose Fairy

It had a lot of watchers. When I see something like that at that kind of price I don't bother to watch it. I buy it. I was so excited I even confused my fairies afterwards. Should have said the Hose Fairy is being kind to me.
