I have no idea what brand belt I got last time I went to a near by vac store and was told all Royal metal uprights use the same belt. The last belt I believe said Royal on it. On the inside of the belt it has raised rubber cross hatching and looks just like the Kirby belt I just got to replace...

I assume Royals are also aluminum Isn't polishing compound abrasive? My concern would be getting it in the motor causing wear. Not to put down your work they look great yet I would rather take the machine apart then polish it . Lot's of work though to take it apart.

I wanted to add since I can't edit This 880 does not look like it was not used all that much since the cord and bag are in great shape and I've been using it for 20 years. It does work better know that I cleaned all the stuff that was on the fan , it was so packed I couldn't see the blades...
