    Vintage Lover

Welcome aboard! With vacuums from the 70's and 80's, I think you'll enjoy our vintage forum. My collection is almost all vintage, with my newest machines being from the 70's and 80's. Although my collection is mostly Royal, Electro-Hygiene, and Hoover, I do have a few Luxes, newest of them being...

    Patriot

Welcome to Vacuumland! I think it would be worth the $80, and whether or not it would work well on bare floors depends on if there is a full set of attachments with it or just what's shown in the picture. You should be able to pick up a floor brush fairly cheap on ebay, and a generic one should...

Does anyone keep this hobby a secret?

I guess you could say I'm kind of in the middle--I don't keep my collection a secret, but I don't exactly broadcast it either. Most of my family and some of my friends know, some don't. My wife knows many of my collector friends, helped me host a few mini meets several years ago, and went with...

    Smelly Vacuum Hose

Oh, OK. It's just that when someone says vintage Kenmore or old Kenny, the Torpedo Tank and the Ken-Kart are the first ones that pop into my mind. Jeff

    Smelly Vacuum Hose

Does your Kenmore look like mine? This is a model 116.730. Got it off ebay several years ago. My parents had the same model when I was a kid, they used it in the basement and to clean out the cars. Wish I had theirs, it was more complete and in better shape than the one I have. Jeff

    Seen these vacs at goodwill

Thank you! It has always been my goal as a collector to have the machines in my collection as complete as possible. Some of them are, others are still a work in progress. Jeff

New member. Here is my Hoover Constellation I picked up on Saturday.

Why would anyone want to use anything other than Hoover tools with a Constellation? They do pop up on ebay quite frequently, sometimes just 1 or 2 attachments, sometimes the whole set. Just be patient and keep your eyes open and you will eventually find what you need. Good luck with your search...

US Premier, G-E & Hotpoint Companies & Model Timelines

Very interesting Paul, thank you for sharing this with us! I also remember reading before about the connections between Edison and General Electric, and the major competition between GE and Westinghouse, especially in the early days. And Nikoli Tesla had originally worked for Edison but went to...

    Well Another One

Electrolux Group Image Bank - History

I also get the same feeling when I see a road grader, roller, or crane that has the name GALION on it, as I worked at Galion Iron Works for 6 years, most of that time as a heavy equipment mechanic in the Changeover department. We repaired defects, put on missing parts, and added options to the...

Electrolux Group Image Bank - History

Thank you for sharing these! Thought it was interesting that they also had pics of Westinghouse washers, dryers, and ranges. The pair that said "White-Westinghouse might have been made during the time I worked at the Mansfield Westinghouse plant! Jeff

    Seen these vacs at goodwill

Speaking of finding Royals at Goodwill, let me tell you about one of my Electro-Hygiene 903 uprights. About 19 years ago I was out thrifting with a couple other collectors in the Akron-Canton area and found a 903 at a thrift store (Salvation Army if I remember right), with $55 on it. Ran...

    The Hoover Model 150

Welcome to Vacuumland! You were so lucky to find a Hoover 150 for $20! It was indeed Hoover's top of the line model from 1936-39 and sold alongside the intermediate model 25 and the economy model 300. If I'm not mistaken, there was no lens over the light portal until later models, but I could be...
