Mowed for the first time

Did the initial scalping on my bermuda and then fertilized with Scotts. Yesterday (2 weeks later) I used some Ortho Weed-b-gone on the horrible dandelions growing and it has not accomplished too much as of this morning. Time will tell!

I think next time this calls for a trip up to PA to meet everyone- looks like a fun time was had by all!

Almost 1 Year Old Miele Capricorn...(Broken Park Lever)

Miele is definitely not what it used to be for sure. They have some neat designs, the weight is great, and some of the power nozzles are pretty cute, but you'll never have the same quality as the Blue Moon/Aluminum era. That said, we find it very difficult in our stores to properly sell the...

    Eureka ESP Self-Propelled help

Should be two tiny screws on the right and left side of the machine under the bumper guard holding attaching the hood to the base.

    Electrolux Trade In Value?

He then quoted me a price of $362 to replace those hose, br This is a summation of the status of most Lux franchises today. They are significantly struggling. My store is not the cheapest store, and even at full retail, a hose, brushroll and...

    Mini/Mega Meet in Pittston!!

You guys sound like a fun bunch, I'd love to come! No matter what a store looks like on the inside, I can't imagine someone making a decent living off of being an internet showroom or competing only with big box stores! Glad we made the decision to carry a little bit of everything.

    Electrolux Epic 6500SR low suction

The square piece is a little thermal piece to protect the motor. We normally bypass those when replacing the motor.

    Electrolux Epic 6500SR low suction

Make sure the safety sensor inside of the motor is not bad- sometimes they can act screwy when repairing the machine. The temperature light is an indication of overheating while running the machine, or wiring incorrectly while putting the machine back together. CKN

What do you think is the worst household chore?

I can't stand vacuuming, dusting, mopping, or washing clothes. Thank God for wonderful cleaning ladies and the iRobot roomba.

    Electrolux Epic 6500SR low suction

Sounds like you didn't put the motor in correctly. Did you order a brand new motor or a "new to you" motor? Also, did you wire it properly? Those things are a b*tch to wire if you didn't write them on the back motor shroud.

    Cremated Remains Vacuum

Rex, you are correct. I was a mortician for 6 years prior to getting back into the vacuum business. Cremations are a lot more cleaner and less scary than most people imagine.

ELECTROLUX EPIC 8000 FIND ON CRAIGSLIST!

You're right Dan I think that is great that he now has the money to spend $80 on a new vacuum and take the old carpet and have it reinstalled in the new apartment. Maybe he can also buy this load of vacuums now once he re-sells that one. We are also all proud of the fact that your body is...

    What is.....

We use WD-40 to clean the bearings, and then thoroughly dry them with a compressor, and then apply vehicle wheel bearing grease. Do not use oil- that is just a mess, and do not use WD40 without drying the bearing afterwards. If you are doing Hoovers, make sure you pay close attention to the...

    Looking for a commericial vac.

An SL3 is a horrible choice- it is not designed for commercial use. I would try an RSL5C. You're going to get a metal brushroll, lifetime belt, and a decent lightweight machine to use all over. The bottom line depends on the church's budget. Just remember, the more you spend, the better...

    Vintage Vacuums and Future Collectors

Tom, you are doing great things with this museum. I still have my 1923 Royal that you sent me displayed prominently in the oldest store. It is nice to see people educating youngesters on these great machines of a bygone era!

    HELP!

Sean, Don't waste your time trying to repair that machine. No matter how much grease you place on the bearing, it is still going to make noise and be a bad bearing. That machine is just not worth the time, money, or effort. You will easily find another one if you go thrifting often enough.

    Electrolux Epic 6500SR low suction

What Seth said. The only way to repair that is to replace the motor. Unless you are experienced, its a fairly difficult repair.

My New Aerus Vacuums - Part 2

I seriously doubt that the new Fresh Era is made anywhere near the Hoover Signature. It looks to be too nice. I'll try to slip by and check it out in the next couple of days and find the mfg origin. Lindhaus still uses a power nozzle on both uprights and canisters that is adaptable to dry...

Electrolux Renaissance motor plastic shroud removal

If you cannot figure out how to remove the shroud, you may want to take the machine to a qualified repairman (if it an important machine). Just be careful with those little motors, they are easy to damage!

My New Aerus Vacuums - Part 2

Thanks Tom for clearing that up. I was also wrong on the new freshEra. There was an earlier lightweight that was made by TTI. I'm glad I was wrong about the new FreshEra, I need to go check it out soon over at our ailing Lux dealer's place. I'm also glad that we can give proper and credible...
