    maneuvering Kirbys

Hard - to - push Kirby As I recall, according to Kirby, one lowers the rug head a click at a time until the vibration from the brush roll is audible THEN DOWN ONE ADDITIONAL CLICK. In theory, this is supposed to be the optimal setting, but with thick rugs, the rug head may have to be raised a...

Royal Handvac with Blower and Sprayer Attachment

Royal hand-vac From the appearance, I'd say that's a very old Royal Hand-Vac. It looks to have a cloth cord which might place it in the 1920's. That's my guess....

    Kenmore Imperial Belts??

Kenmore Imperial Take the old belt to a vac store and match it up with one slightly smaller allowing for the stretching that has occurred.

    A word of caution...

Re: A word of caution One other cautionary thing one might be aware of in any old vacuum bag is rodent droppings. This dust might cause some severe health issues if inhaled.

How to remove screen print from generic bags?

Bag print I'm just thinking out loud, but perhaps something mild but strong like an orange based cleaner might do it? I'd be afraid of using paint remover myself.

    Kirby vs. Royal

Royals are so much lighter than Kirbys ...and clean just as well. A very simple machine. I like the metal uprights with the quick height adjuster. I had a beautiful upright with full attachments that I gifted to Filterqueen83. He may even still have it.

    How could they!?!?!??

Who did get it?? ...just wondering if anyone here got it. If so, good luck putting it back together. It was so wrong. but might make a good parts machine. Boo!!

    Hoover model 700 question

I believe Hoover did sell a headlight add-on for early coffee-can machines. I don't know if one was designed for the 700 or not. Maybe so, since the later machines featured headlamps as standard.

    Royal Uprights - Rite-Hite or Au-Toe-Matic?

Give me the Au-toe-matic any day. Otherwise, one must bend down to the level of the machine and turn and antiquated screw, whereas the toe adjuster is instant. I've had both machine types. My two cents.

My new baby (Hoover 26 Upright)

Lovely..!!! Lovely!! I must say. It's in such pristine condition - looks as though it has hardly been used. A real find for a vacuum of that age. Is the cord original?

The universe is groaning over this incomprehensible tragedy

I think that any savvy collector would know that a washed bag may well be a ruined bag. It happens. Ebay auctioning is not a perfect science. Buyer Beware!!
