I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

Update: So some parts that I ordered for this came in, those being belts, filters, an upholstery tool, and a turbo brush. Fun fact, if you buy Arm-and-Hammer, Filtrete, and Durabelt branded aftermarket parts for a Eureka, you're technically buying genuine parts for it. This is because...

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

Noted. This is mainly going to be used on my second floor, which is 90% carpeted. However, there's this patch of wood floor at the top landing of my stairs (couldn't explain to you why it's there). It's pretty cumbersome to vacuum when I'm using a machine without a brushroll shut off. I usually...

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

This thing doesn't even have a soft start. It's a freaking Eureka the Boss Smart Vac🤦‍♂️

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

herbicide It's a single motor upright with a clutch mechanism for the brushroll... smh

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

herbicide The switch is just a standard rocker switch, though apparently these switches have a habit of going bad on Smart Vacs. I'm inclined to believe it, as when I got the chance to use a distant relative's Smart Vac, it arched very brightly. Like I said, I ordered a new one, so hopefully...

    Wdym "friction"?

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

herbicide I am referring to those. Like I said, I don't think they're heat shrink coverings, but regardless, I still need to get new ones, as apparently they were there to prevent electricity from bypassing the switch, preventing the machine from turning off, or something like that.

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

I don't think these are heat shrink covers. I would assume that if they were, the process of heating them up might melt the wires. Even if they are, I cut them up to remove them, so I'll have to get new ones anyways. Also, I'm not sure how simple rubbing and vibration from using the machine...

    What do you mean?

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

Little bit of an update... So I cut off the rubber coverings of the connectors for the switch. It turns out that the connectors on the switch are alright (although the one attached to the stripped wires have some oxidation on it). I've got a few theories as to what happened here, they mainly...

    Your Dream Vacuum Cleaner...

Me personally, it'd be a bagged Cyclovac central vacuum with Almond colored Vacu-Valves, an almond colored Vacpan, and a variety of different hoses and power nozzles to choose from. Those include: A Hoover Windtunnel kit, an Electrolux Centralux kit, an MD Stealth Kit a Hayden Supersystem kit...

Vac n seal central vacuum accessory

Genuinely awesome find. I remember seeing this featured in one of MD's videos on their Youtube channel. Probably not exactly something I'd go through the effort to install myself, assuming I could install a CV right now, but still it's a neat idea.

I own a Smart Vac 4870! Now what?

As I mentioned in my previous thread about my trash-picked Panasonic, I treated myself to a new vacuum cleaner for my birthday. In this case, I decided upon a Eureka The Boss Smart Vac, more specifically the purple "Pet Lovers" edition, as I like its color the most out of all of the Smart Vac...

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

Cool! So far I'd consider mine to be the best bagless vacuums I've ever used, as it has excellent filtration and airflow. Oh, and I know they have a bad rap when it comes to belt-life, but I've had the same belt that inside it that I put in to replace the broken one it came with, and I haven't...

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

Cool! I'm glad you were able to get your hands on a dream machine of yours : D Mine would probably have to be the DD Breeze M088160. I only recently got my hands on one.

    RIP old Vacuumland.

Well said man, well said. Boy, I sure do love living in a world where creativity and charm are pushed aside over soulless slop all because the major corporations want to save a few dollars over hiring people, further plunging us into a dystopic-nightmare of a future! 🙂👍

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

That's literally what the lady who I acquired it from said. Also, didn't you say something about how this was your favorite Panasonic machine, or something to that extent?

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

I wouldn't say that Panasonic vacuums in general are particularly rare. There's a good handful of them on Ebay right now, and I'm sure if you looked on your local marketplace sites you could find a good amount of them. This one, though, seems to be pretty uncommon. The only video I was able to...

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

Thanks, but Idk if I'm going to keep it. I might, but I've also thought about maybe giving it to the model railroad club (all they have for vacuums is some shop vacs and a bissell stick vacuum), or someone else who needs a vacuum. That's also under the assumption that it works and I can get it...
