    Friday's find...

I am so used to seeing plastique junque in the thrift stores, that when something like this comes along I grab it even though I already have one... Presenting a rather dirty model 1030, it runs beautifully, but needs a little greasing. All for the princely sum of $12.00...

    Beater bar patent

why Hoover changed from the metal beater bars to the plastic This is my own theory, so its subject to being way off, BUT I think it was because of carpeting trends. When the beater bar was introduced, everyone had area rugs. The rugs were not glued or tacked down, and it was easy for the...

    Beater bar patent

to the best of my knowledge.. The first cleaner NOT a Hoover to have beater bars after the patent was Singer, introduced on their re-designed model U-41 twin fan upright about 1961 or so. Theirs was a metal beater bar, kind of like Hoovers, but it was in a wood core brush roller and inserted...

    A Purrrr-tey Eureka!

If I'm not mistaken Kyle's Eureka is a model 270, and it would date from that late 60's, 67-68 somewhere. The height was adjusted by the rear wheels. Eureka introduced their up front adjustment about 1969 or so, roughly the same time as Hoover introduced the 4-position Convertible.

    Unusual Convertible find

Nicholas, to answer your questions, Yes there were at least a couple of instances where they used the same model number and changed colors. the first one is model U4001, which came in three color combos. The first was a seal griege/taupe, the second was persian gold/taupe, and the third was a...

    eureka Ironside

Wow, the more I look at that The more I like it. The color is the same blue used on the later 1458 series Upright. I'm not a Eureka expert, but that looks to me like an EARLY Eureka p/n canister, not quite TOL but close. Their TOL model would have been a canned ham. This one looks very...

The Heritage II originally had the grey lexan fan. If you have an aluminum fan then the original has been replaced at some point.
