    General Carpet Cleaning

That is a fact. I read the links. None of the links V-F claims proves his point actually support his claims. And the one link with measured results for cleaning carpets with hot water extraction shows better results than any chemical cleaning method. I spent a career in a data driven RDT&E...

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

Really? Surprised. I would have thought New Zealand vacuum tastes ran more towards European style canister vacs that some big noisy dirty fan Yank Tank of a vacuum.

    Bernina Vacuum

Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the Bernina. It looks like a high quality machine but I have never even seen one in person much less had a chance to use one.

The links he posts don't even support his claims. We have all read them by now and can see this with our own eyes.

    Dyson Piston

But again, if a household appliance requires special or detailed care to be reliable, expect it to fail. When manufacturers require the customer to do more than the most basic tasks to maintain an item I can guarantee most users will not do those tasks. Just how it is. For most people a...

    Electrolux Olympia...

Eh, not so much advanced as just very well made and exceptionally durable. Olys and Silverados were very basic electrically, about as simple as a vacuum can be. By the time the Oly was out there were already vacuums available in Europe with variable power controls and hose handle controls...

    Sebo X4 Difficult to Push

ET-Cs and their brother ET-350e's are great power nozzles. No height adjustment but none is really needed.

    Sebo X4 Difficult to Push

Height adjuster. It raises or lowers a little wheel under the center of the nozzle base and that changes the height of the brush roll above the carpet so you can adjust for different pile depths.

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

I learned the hard way a very long time ago to turn on used vacuums outdoors the first time before I have had a chance to take them apart and sanitize them.

How do I grow my "vac shop"

Sigh. I have to put one of those on right now and go chase one of our cats around the back yard catio so I can bring him in for the night. The catio is secure ( steel fencing dug into the ground, blocks on either side butted up against the fencing and a chicken wire cover suspended on sturdy...

    Hoover Anniversary self-propelled windtunnel.

Sounds like there are enough things that can get crudded up or neglected to cause them to fail. If you can't pick them up by the handle without damaging them then that seems like a pretty serious flaw. If you have the version without the power drive you don't have to worry about these things...

    Hoover Anniversary self-propelled windtunnel.

I don't like mechanical complexity. More things to break and wear out. OP will spend a lot of time and some money to fix his broken power drive. I am the same way with cars and motorcycles. I prefer simple and basic things. If I could buy a modern car with manual steering, manual brakes...

The power nozzle and the green attachments are from another model. The Oly should have a brown PN4 and cream colored attachments.

Looking for motor for Panasonic MC-663 upright

Finding an original replacement will be tough. You would have to show me the fan opening but if those motors are made like their same year canister motors they are quite repairable. The fan should be retained by a hex nut and flat washer. I would like to see if there is a lip on the fan...
