Kirby G3 with black and red striped bumper protector.

You get me east of the Rocky Mountains where it is humid all summer and I am in pure misery. I don't tolerate hot humid climates very well though I have lived places like Florida, South Carolina, Diego Garcia, Cairns Australia and Papua New Guinea and the Navy liked to send me on deployments to...

Kirby G3 with black and red striped bumper protector.

One of the benefits of living in the high desert is that it's arid. No mold or mildew problems. Cars don't rust. No fleas, ticks or mosquitoes, great for pets and for their clumsy hairless bipedal servants ( us hoomins ). Dust is about the only thing to worry about.

    Dyson Piston

They come with Japan market 100 volt vacuums only sold in Japan. Some are happy on US household 110-120 volt power. The Panasonic MC-PJ22G, MC-PJ23G, MC-PJ24G and MC-PJ25G are the Panasonic models with the good power nozzle. Make sure it says G and not A. A stands for their air powered turbo...

    Spur-of-the moment vacquisiton...

The wires in those hoses are solid, not braided. But, yes, the hose material was miserable presenting opportunities for coils to come into contact and start a fire. Also the connections at the molded cuffs on the later 1980s three wire hoses weren't the best and the pig tail that used to jump...

    Dyson Piston

So there are a couple of Japanese all surface power nozzles sold with the top of the line Panasonic and Hitachi canister models that are surprisingly good. Mitsubishi too. Not all by any means but there are a few that are better than some full size power nozzles sold in the US.

    Who was Lawrence Electric ???

Doing some more reading it appears Electrolux sold Lawrence Industries to a company then called U-Nova. They are now known as Novaflex Group and they make all kinds of hoses. https://www.rubbernews.com/article/20000121/NEWS/301219978/u-nova-buys-hose-manufacturer-lawrence-industries/...

    Who was Lawrence Electric ???

The old newspaper articles makes it seem like Lawrence was a wholly owned subsidiary of Electrolux.

    Vacuuming early in life?

The Japanese version of Mercari is very different from what you get in the US. The Japanese site sells used merchandise and it a lot like ebay. Jupiter's crazy tariff "schedulle" makes buying things from Canada more expensive than buying from Japan. The tariff on Japanese goods is 15%. 15%...

    Dyson Piston

I have some older Japanese power nozzles with brush rolls that have nearly identical rubber flaps and they are as useless. That was something you saw on Japanese vacuums in the 1990s.

    Who was Lawrence Electric ???

Just saw this wand on ebay. Seller says it fits a Lawrence Electric vacuum and the plastic upper wand has Lawrence branding, but the parts look exactly like a traditional Electrolux electric wand. I will bet more than a high quality beer someone here knows the story...

    Vacuuming early in life?

A smidge over that. Probably closer to 250. Once I figured out how to buy and import vacuums from Japan I got a little out of control.

    NZ Electrolux machines

Electrolux didn't exist in 1918. Electrolux AB was formed in 1919 from the merger of Lux AB, a company selling outdoor kerosene lamps, and Electromechanska AB, a company making a copy of a fairly large American vacuum cleaner. Electrolux AB would not produce a vacuum under their own name until...
