    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

That makes sense the way you described it, Trebor. It's helpful to visualize what's happening with the beater and the fan. Sometimes you forget the two are linked. The airflow does feel more continuous. It's hard to say how the modded machine cleans after one use, but I'm sure it will do fine...

    Thoughts on Trebor's Sanitaire modification.

I think many of us recall a thread where Trebor suggested a modification for the Sanitaire upright that improves its performance. The modification involves drilling two 1/8" holes on the back walls of the air-intake nozzle in order to increase airflow and reduce the clamping effect Sanitaires...

Sound damping sheets for your vacuum - has anyone tried it?

So this is totally unnecessary, but since we like to optimize our time with our vacuums, has anyone tried reducing the sound of their machines with sound damping sheets? I've always heard great things about how quiet Mieles and other well damped vacuums are. People who have these machines seem...

    Mytee motors?

Well, from what I can see, the Mytee motors seem to be made for commercial extractors. It makes sense: Mytee designs and sells extractors, not vacuum cleaners. So the question of a replacement motor for the Tristar may be moot. I'm tempted to call the company to check, though.

    Mytee motors?

...and here's an even lower price on it. http://www.blowermotorsplus.com/Ametek_116311_01_Blower_Vacuum_Motor_2M192_p/116311-01.htm

    Mytee motors?

Ametek model number... I believe the Lamb Ametek used in the CXL is model number 116311-01. Interestingly, the specs says this particular motor tops out at 95 CFM. Interesting, as a lot's been said of the CXL's great airflow, and 95 CFM doesn't seem that great compared to many other vacuums...

    Mytee motors?

Gareth, your opinion carries a lot of weight with me as I know you have a lot of engineering and practical experience in the vacuum industry. So I'll take it that Mytee products are good. It may be a stretch to assume that all of their motors are good just based on the performance of your...

    Mytee motors?

The way of the world... "...they just cheapen everything to make more profit." That happens everywhere these days, doesn't it? Not just in China. Witness: Chips Ahoy cookies from when I was a kid. They are one-third the size these days! And they don't give you any more cookies! As far as...

    Mytee motors?

Well, Mytee seem to be a company with some history. So that's reassuring. I doubt they build their own motors, however. I tend to agree with twocvbloke that they probably outsource them. Whether the specs on the motor are prorpietary and commissioned by Mytee, I don't know. I'd imagine they're...

    Hoover Or Shark?

Hoover Air... Say, why is it that the Hoover Air is so great? Is the cyclone different than the T series? I've often wondered if the T series machines were any good. Seems everyone raves about the Air, however, whenever Hoover gets mentioned. What makes it better than Hoover's other offerings?

    Mytee motors?

I think this is the same motor on ebay. I'm very curious if these are a good, long-lasting replacement motor for the Amatek Lamb. Curious. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250971150897&fromMakeTrack=true#ht_731wt_905

    Mytee motors?

I was doing some research on motor maintenance (see the other thread I started with questions) and ran into this video. It compares the Amatek Lamb motor to a Mytee. Both work well, the Mytee pulls more on the waterlift test and is quieter. It uses a few amps more power, though. I couldn't find...

How to maintain a motor: Seeking tutorials and know how.

Finally stepping it up and looking to get inside my motors to maintain them. Most notably, I have a Tristar CXL that has a squeaky motor. You can hear it as the motor slows down when shut off. One of the members here suggested it may be the brushes. Also, I'm looking to maintain the motor on my...

One more use for your vacuum . . .

Ha, ha. I can't remember the last time I searched engined something. I "Googled" a few things today, though. I remember a linguistics class I took in college. The teacher was talking about how things get into the popular lexicon. She talked about an ad campaign put out by the Kroger corporation...

One more use for your vacuum . . .

OK, it is not so bad. A little expensive, but prices for the Museum Vac are in reasonable range for a vacuum. This is a whole new category of vacuums I did not know extisted. http://www.preservationequipment.com/Store/Products/Disaster-$4-Cleaning/Vacuum-Cleaners/Museum-Vac%28R%29

One more use for your vacuum . . .

Museum Vac... Ha, ha! That's great! I love that they talk a little bit about the vacuum. If you look at the pic, it says "Museum Vac" on both vacuums. Must be an extremely low powered vac for delicate work. I bet they charge an arm and a leg for such a specialized machine (though it looks...

What brand of vac, is a true hepa filter.

Felix... One thing about the Felix that surprised me was it's mild and gentle manner. It's so easy to push and steer and so mild mannered and quiet, I was assuming it could not be cleaning that well. It's actually quite good and everyone seems to agree that it does a fantastic job. Speaking of...

    Toughts on the LG Kompressor?

One thing that I really like about the LG is the 40' cord. It works perfectly for getting down into the staircase, which doesn't have plugs. It's as handy as my Dusctare 6500C and Sanitaire commercial vacs which have 50' and 40' cords, respectively. Such a rarity on a vac that's not designed for...

    Toughts on the LG Kompressor?

Physical work as exercise... Venson, Funny, I also look at the glass as half-full like that. I consider all of the heavy, physical jobs I do as workouts or excercise. Sometimes, that's the only way I can motivate or console myself when I don't feel like doing physical work. I've seen studies...

What brand of vac, is a true hepa filter.

Dust on outside... Could it be possible that the dust on the outside of your vacuum is dust kicked into the air from your vac's exhaust (blowing it off of the floor or a dusty table, for example), and then sticking onto your vac due to static electricity? Just a thought.
