    Rob's Classic Omega restoration...

Amazing Omega! Now that's a shine! You've just convinced me to get a buffing wheel. I have to go to the parts store this week to get a bearing puller, anyways. The bearings should be in two weeks from now for my Tradition. What a shine that Omega has! And ditto Ben on the sticker for the belt...

    Kirby classic 111

Congratulations! Congrats on becoming A Kirby owner! The Classic III is a beautiful machine, one of the best Kirby made. With some tender loving care, it can easily outlast you! And what a price! For $40, you definitely made a steal of a deal. Keep an ear open for change in the sound of the...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

Rob, That is a real bummer about breaking the belt lifter. I know a company that has some 505 vintage used belt lifters in stock. KirbyFans (eBay seller 16910) has them, and even has the one for the 505. Haven't checked his price. Sorry about your headlight! I have a replacement as well in...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

Thanks! Rob, Thanks for posting the armatures! That poor thing was filthy inside! But what a beautiful polishing you did on it. At least from a phone, it is turning out remarkably! I finally got my rug nozzle for my Tradition, so I'll soon be doing what you are doing with the 505, finally...

The 50's Strikes! That is actually a very unique and good-looking Golden Jubilee. What a gem!

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

FrankenKirby Wow, Rob! That is one mix-matched 505! And what are you talking about, "The reproduction bag is far out of reach?" You know you want to go all out and restore it to completely original. Lol! Does that headlight still work? Honestly, I have seen one of these before with a black...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

Rob, Thanks for the advice! And shhh!! Don't tell me about that Classic! They've actually got a good price on it! You know you want it, because I do! My wallet is telling me otherwise, though! There's a fair priced Legend II on there right now too. No attachments, but the machine looks to be...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

SLIGHT UPDATE BTW, I ordered a handle fork pin, a Power Head, original brush roll, and a headlight for both the Tradition and the 517. As soon as I get the Power Head, I will then commence taking the Tradition apart and start the restoration process inside the machine. Besides bearings and...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

Ben, That Stark Royal is a fine looking machine! I have not acquired a Royal, yet. It's on my to do list... eventually. Baby Blue looks good on that vacuum. Rob, Yes, the Kirby Classic III and the Legend II are my favorite Second Gen machines. I have neither, though. I have my hands full...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

Graduation Gifts... Rob, Funny you would mention graduation gifts. I have a boy whose favorite color is blue, and he has already claimed that vacuum! I told him that when he is a grown-up and is getting his own place, that he can have the Tradition. You want to see some sparkle in someone's...

I Figured Out Kirby From The Brave Little Toaster's Real Life Equivalent!

Modern Kirby? I don't either. He looks the same in all three, so far as I can tell? Unless there is a 4th movie?

    Kirby fan change question...

Just a 'bit' past finger-tight is usually all you need, as sptyks said, the reverse-threaded shaft will tighten automatically when the machine is powered on from friction. As stated, having it very tight will not necessarily harm it, but speaking from experience, it can certainly make future...

Anyone else not have a daily driver?

No longer have a DD I used to only have my Heritage, but as of recent I have acquired a Tradition and a 517. The 517 is a kick to use, although it will soon need new bearings, I believe. I love my Heritage, though. Fully restored and all new parts. For deep cleaning, the Heritage is king.

    New-To-Me 517 and a question

I think the screw is stripped!!! The Nozzle Lock won't tighten at all. It just spins freely. Any suggestions?

    New-To-Me 517 and a question

On a side note, the nozzle lock looks to me just like the one off of the G Series. Is this true, or is it the correct one? Or did they just never change it throughout the years?

    New-To-Me 517 and a question

I recently acquired this 517 from eBay. I love it so far, but it has a problem. The power nozzle doesn't seat firmly on the bar below the fan hole. It can wiggle a lot, and I have actually knocked it off by accident simply by kicking it slightly. Fortunately it wasn't running! But what would...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

The Older Tradition I was wanting the old Tradition with the newer one too, especially since it was a headlight lock model, but the fellow evaluated that it would have been too much work for whatever reason (I didn't ask), and he -threw it away.- uugh. Finding that out was depressing, as he...

    1979 Kirby Tradition Restoration

This is going to be a restoration thread of my Kirby Tradition. It is a later 1979 model, which was going to be sold with another one, an early 1979 model, but the other one got recycled, along with the power nozzle. I only got the Tradition, some attachments, the blue attachment case, and the...

    Rob's Tradition restoration...

Back Stock Ben- I'd be satisfied with a small bit of overstock being used in the making of my machine. Lol. Ron- Yes, indeed I have rebuilt two Kirbys before, and lightly restored the Heritage pictured with the Tradition in the picture above. I rebuilt a Heritage II/Legend and a G4 for a...
