    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

Kenkart, Your old Kirby dealer is the type we still need around. I understand that to make money, the new must sell, but to be as rude to a customer as to kick them out of the store because the customer knows about his vacuum that they probably used to sell (granted, with different employment...

    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

Human, Never even got the chance to look in the parts dumpster before things turned sour. I have, until now, only bought my Kirby parts online, and now it looks like that's about the extent of it. *sigh Rob, Yes, I was really hoping my guy would have been a good one, as I have heard horror...

Summerfield. I'm right near Ocala, which is where this distributor is based. ~Tim

    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

This distributor's office doubles as an auction house. They were cleaning an Avalir on the one side of the desk, behind where the lady was, and on my end were a bunch of chairs set up for the auction they were holding on random household stuff in an hour or so. "Shady" came to mind when I went...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

Ben, That's what I thought. I can find nothing on it with it having the polished bottom. Even the ones I've seen with the cover plate instead of a belt lifter didn't have a polished emtor bottom. ~Tim

    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

So I finally got the opportunity to head out to my local Kirby distributor, which I was stoked about. Upon entering the door, I waited for a woman to get off the phone, and when she did, she asked me what I was doing there. We'll, that didn't sound good. I asked her for some parts, and she said...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

That's Brilliant! I figured out that my nozzle lock screw hole is stripped, so that's why mine is loose. It still holds in the case though, just doesn't tighten, so I might do something similar to get things to clamp down. Thank you! ~Tim

    Best looking vacuum ever made.

I have three favorites. None of them are all that new. Lol. The Kirby Tradition, Kirby Classic III, and the Kirby 505. Something about the primitive styling of the thing that just catches my eye.

    Someone Please Help Me!!!!!!!

Still a neat find! It is still a neat find, even if it isn't worth much. It certainly isn't common. I personally also "Googled" this thing when you posted it, and all I could find was that auction (on two different websites), and a whole bunch about the Hoover Whirlwind, which is nothing more...

    Kirby classic 111

Unfortunately... Despite the extraordinary quality of practically any Kirby vacuum, many don't see the value in owning one vs any old off-the-shelf model. Kirby owners are, despite how many of us are here on VacuumLand, not in the majority. VacuumLand makes owning a Kirby look like everyone...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

I'll answer what I know. The Sani-Emtor looks to be correct, but the cup at the bottom of yours appears to be chrome, whereas even the earliest examples I can find have the black phenolic plastic. Not sure what's going on there. The shape appears correct for it, so I'm not 100% sure. Wheels...

    Rob's basketcase Kirby 505 restoration!

Your nozzle That nozzle is correct to the machine. Check the tension on the nozzle lock. If it has any play at all, it is bad or stripped. That is actually what is wrong with my 517. It can actually pop off during operation because it is held on too loose, at least on mine. Mine's stripped, so...

    Kirby classic 111

That Tradition Nice score on the Tradition! $15 is an amazing price for any Kirby! Does that one have a lock on the headlight? If so, you've got an early model! Also, you can tell by the serial number. The serial number is located on the front fan case just before the bag lock (exhaust), in...

    NOS vintage Kirby bumpers

I wish... No, I'm not bidding on it. We had some house expenses that came up, so no, if you would like to bid on it, feel free to. It's really a good deal. And I'm sure you could make room for it. Who needs a kitchen stove anyways! I'm sure you could fit two or three Kirbys in its place! Lol...

    Rob's Classic Omega restoration...

Kirbyfans Rob, I too, when it comes to restoring things right, am a purist. For instance, whenever I finally do start the Tradition restoration, despite the suction being compromised by the Style 1 bag system, I will nevertheless, use it, as it is the original setup for that vacuum. The...

My 517 This is my 517. It is the original bumper trim, both on the nozzle and on the headlight.

    NOS vintage Kirby bumpers

Rob, Do you, by chance, happen to have a red headlight trim for the 517? The only one I can find online is a dark tan one, and I want the original color. ~Tim
