What brand New with box Vacuums do you have?

I have a Lime Green Kenmore canister that is new in the box. I only took it out to listen to the motor, but other than that it's never been put together or used.

    Finally got a Celebrity!

Good to hear from you! Nice find! In general, Hoover Celebrities all pre-date the time that Hoover started encoding the date into the serial numbers, which was 1987 so can't be dated that way. You may find a date stamped on the power nozzle motor. I did a quick search for that model and I...

    How I service my machines

It's satisfying to have a cleaned, de-scuffed and polished machine with new bag and filters installed. It's like making it brand new again, almost.

    Craftsman vacuum filters

Well doing some more research with the part number, found out these older Craftsman take different filters than what are found at Lowes or other places. Once I was able to find the measurements of the OEM filter, I was unable to find any other ones from other brands that might fit. They were all...

    Craftsman vacuum filters

Does anyone know if other brands of pleated type filters will fit a Craftsman 12 gallon shop vac. I see the specific "black stripe" filters on Amazon. But locally I see similar looking filters sold at Lowes by Shop-Vac and Harbor Freight that look similar. Some of the reviews I was reading said...

shopvac praise the lord for it !!!

Try used appliance stores and maybe estate sales. But I have not seen any belt drives around, most all I see at the oldest is older Whirlpool or Kenmore direct drives.

    Hoover Carbon HEPA Y bags

What vacuums are over 20 years old? There's plenty of vacuums that still use bags, the Windtunnel Self Propelled in question is from 2012, and they've only been discontinued about 5 years now, And there are other bagged Windtunnels currently in production. I get the production costs would be...

    Hoover Carbon HEPA Y bags

I got a Windtunnel awhile back and was thinking about getting these Carbon HEPA material type Y bags to use in it. I remember reading good things about them on here. I was just wondering why it seems no other bags have employed this carbon HEPA material? Does it really help prevent odors? I...

What vacuum do you think was the last good Eureka?

I agree on the Smartvac, good machine, good setup and nice attachments. Either that or the 1934B. Although they still make the Mighty Mite and that is still a pretty good little canister.

Morgan, as far as I know, Shop Vac is back in business, they found a buyer. Not sure where you buy them though.

These came out in 2003, well before the new Constellation in 2006.

Older Kenmore Canister Vac motor issues

Awhile back I bought an older Kenmore canister vacuum at an estate sale. Usually I don't pick these up but I really liked the looks of this one. But unfortunately I made a big mistake testing it. The motor sounds really bad, it's extremely loud and the wind down sounds sad. Is there anything...

I’m an official member of the Windtunnel Club!

The Maytag made versions had less whiny high pitched motors than the TTI ones, so it probably is quieter.

    Shark Vacuum Fascination

I've used one or two at work to clean my desk and in the corners and such. I thought it was a pretty good machine, it was definitely one of the better uprights at above floor cleaning, and this was without even taking the canister off the base. Noise level and controls seemed fine, it was pretty...

    You rarest Vacuum cleaner

I have a Penncrest JCPenney branded Hoover Constellation, which I'm told is quite rare. It's also the first model of Hoover Constellation that had the tilted design and plastic on board attachment rack.

Were older Rainbows good at filtration?

I always thought Rainbows were excellent at filtration. My grandmother has a D4C she bought new back in the 80s and her house always smelled fresh and looked clean. I used to wonder if it was because of the Rainbow. I have recently been reading that the newer Rainbows need a HEPA filter in...

    Storage Unit

I decided with where I am now with my collecting, I needed to get a storage unit. And I decided to go with a climate controlled one because I was concerned about heat and humidity. Mostly put my recent curb finds there so far. I'm slowly clearing out boxes and NOS stuff also that will be going...

    My vacuum sightings

Didn't know they were rare, but I did think it was strange. I will check next time I go down there. Today I stopped into Salvation Army thrift store. I had not been there in over two years, because it had gotten to where there was hardly anything ever there, and in vaccums would never see much...

    Which Portapower was Better?

I have a newer dark gray and orange one that I got off Dollarhog on eBay. It was a return, I had to wash the cloth bag and order the wands it was missing off topvacuum. But it looks brand new and it's a nice cleaner. The colors are nice, I like that they still make them. I don't know what the...

    My vacuum sightings

These were at the thrift shop this week. The Shark at the left was weird and I didn’t even notice the Shark name on it until I looked at the picture. I really liked the Hoover on the right - it was one of those later Elite based Softguard models, had the three beige tools behind the top cover...
