I have a Kenmore Powermate Model 2999 (two speed) Woodgrain top

There should be a red plastic mount that slides into slots in the base. Then the bag collar fits over the mount. The 5055 bags aren’t correct for that model. You need 5033 or later known as Type E bags. They are a little harder to find now and I’m not sure if they’re still on production as...

    Eureka Smartvac

This was one of those machines I would get if I found one at a good price. One turned up for $8 a few weeks ago, so got it. It’s the black and yellow version and appears to be from 2004. Really like it overall. Two features that I really like are the brush roll shutoff switch for bare floors...

    Favorite rare 80s-2000s vacuums?

Hmm I don’t know about rare, but I have a few from that period I’m after. The Dirt Devil Ultra MVP in general, but especially the variable speed model with cord rewind and storage drawer with extra belts and headlight bulbs. The Hoover Windtunnel 2 bagged, so bulky and quirky, but it looks...

And interestingly, some of the latest QS models had newer attachments like the Spirit and Dimension would use.

(Very rare) 11 amp Bissell plus.

I have an 11 amp just like that maroon one. It’s in the JCPenney catalog in 1995.

    Unusual Kenmore canister?

Yeah I’ve definitely had my share of Missoula and regrets not getting something. And that model you saw was actually made by Panasonic, one of the last cleaners they made for Sears. The newer Cleve made models still seem pretty good. Cleve got Panasonics designs and tooling when they took...

    Hoover Slimline

Oh wow, never seen Penncrest versions before! So did the Penncrest models have separate tool storage pouches instead of storing them inside?

    Unusual Kenmore canister?

Those are fairly recent, yes, around 5-10 years old. There was a lower end model at the same time without the quick release power head that was a lime green I really liked.

No Bissell/DD Power Nozzle Canisters Until The Early 2000's

Did Bissell even have any canisters before the Zing, Digipro, etc? I know they had some in the 70s, but I don’t remember any from the 80s or 90s. And I don’t think any of their 70s models had one but I could be wrong. And Dirt Devil I don’t remember ever having a full size canister, it just...

an ebay find nib hoover celebrity

I have one as well, except it doesn't say "Celebrity III" on it, it just has the Hoover logo right in the center. And it's more of a copper orange on top. Not sure if it's earlier or later than this one but otherwise it's the same thing. It is noisy, in fact it seems much louder than my two...

    Forgotten Eureka Products

Don't forget the Eureka Crown Princess disc shaped canister that had indents on the side for the hose to store in. I've only ever seen a video of one on YouTube. Seems quite uncommon compared to their square metal canisters and round ones like the Roto-Matic.

an ebay find nib hoover celebrity

Definitely has been used, you can see the scratching in the paint on the bottom where it slides around on the floor, and the crevice tool is scratched. Nice to find with the box though.

    What's your favorite Rainbow

The only one I have is a trash picked D4 SE PE like your picture and I have yet to try it yet. My grandma has a D3, but I never vacuumed with it.

    dating Hoover SteamVac Deluxe

On Hoovers made after 1988 the first four numbers of the serial number is the date. The first two are the month and the second two are the year. So this was made in the 09th month (September) of 96 (1996).

What I didn't buy at Goodwill today...

You did better than me I bought that same model machine at Habitat a few months ago. With the attachments for $8 I think. I couldn't pass it up, and I don't regret it, as I really like the retro mod look it has going on. It's just so cool looking. However Saturday I did pass up a red Singer...

    Five dollar thrift store Hoover

I found a similar one a few months ago. I was very happy about it, because I'd been looking for it for a while. Mine is the same color as yours, but doesn't have the nicer chrome trim or chrome hubcaps, and it has the cheapo Dirt Devil dusting brush. It also doesn't have a turbo tool cover...

    Finally got a Celebrity!

filter That was probably me. LOL I bought a foam wet dry vac sleeve filter at Walmart, whichever brand they sell (other brands probably work too). And found I could get exactly 3 filters by cutting across it into 3 equal rings. It does fit a little loosely. So what I did, was get the white...
