    Estate Sale Eureka

Got this today - says Eureka Super-Power on the hood - says it's a model 248. The brush roll is shot and I haven't turned it on yet, but the lady said it worked. Looks like it'll polish up really nicely! $10 seemed more than fair?

    Dumpster Hoover -

I have no plans to quit my day job - like I said, I just wanted to have some fun and get some experience by taking this vacuum apart. When I tested the cord and found it to be bad, I just figured that whoever owned this vacuum didn't want to spend $50 to repair it when for a little more you can...

I got an Electrolux E today

kenkart, I did end up going back to get the Roll-Easy - I'm pretty new to vintage vacuums and don't have the extensive background knowledge that most of the people on this site have, but I'm learning quickly!

    Dumpster Hoover -

I thought about taking the cord off the other Hoover - and I may go back and look - but I'm guessing that it was a 3 wire cord rather than a two. I'm not sure if and how I could put a 3 wire cord onto a machine that is supposed to only have 2?

    Dumpster Hoover -

the cord that is on there is two wire with a plastic connector in the middle of the handle - I'm looking for a replacement, but they all seem to be at least $15 - Why do my "free" vacuums always end up costing me money?

    Dumpster Hoover -

Also need the "HOOVER" decal. The one that was on there was mostly rubbed off so I polished the rest of it away to give it a nice clean look. I put a new belt on it too. It doesn't say anywhere what type of bags it takes, but there's an A bag in it.

    Dumpster Hoover -

Just out of curiosity, I went by the dumpster in the back of the vacuum shop close to my house and, sure enough, there were a couple of handles sticking out of the top. I looked in and found two Hoovers, one more modern looking one (bag hidden in a hard plastic case) and an Industrial Upright...

I got an Electrolux E today

I passed on the GE because it seemed too "rare" - I'm generally not too interested in something that I can't get parts (or bags) for easily and cheaply. I may go back and get it to pass along to someone, but shipping would be expensive - it was HEAVY!
