Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

I think that color combo would look pretty great on a Connie. Also I love your home decor!

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

The bag on my machine is alright near the bellows surprisingly. Its only torn a little at the top edges. But yeah up close on the vinyl it looks it was brushed on material. I've been careful with it, making sure it doesn't brush against the couches or coffee table. I hear Vinylex helps and also...

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

Your model 69 with its original neptune bag looks fantastic! They're just so darn fragile as they age with time.

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

I guess Hoover made then short to keep the cost down. If the cord was tattered I would have replaced it but its the original cord and in great shape! but yeah just 10 short to use around the house without having to unplug it outlet to outlet. Mine too! I think they look great (not to mention...

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

Thanks Fred! I'm really glad to finally have one in my small collection. It sure is, the bag is a little tattered, missing a little paint here and there but that gives it some character.

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

It felt good to vacuum with the ol' Model 69 today. The only downsides are being that the cord is too short for my home. I will make up a 7 foot extension cord if I come across any white cord. And the last thing being that it was a tad hard to push and not hearing the beater bars against the...

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

She sure is! and Thanks Brando! Your uncle's model 68 looks stunning for sure! Sorry about the smell though...If he has pets then the pet hair could be the reason why it smells, some dryer sheets could have taken care of the smell.

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

Indeed so! After awhile I sort of lost hope in ever finding one that wasn't completely trashed... I've been filled with glee since I got in the mail, I've never heard a 69 run before until now. She purrs quite nicely! -Alex

Found Childhood Dream Machine: Hoover Model 69

I can rest easy knowing that I found one of childhood Hoovers... I can't describe it, but this machine left an impact on me when I saw it on display at a vacuum repair and sales shop. My parents we taking me and my younger brother to this Cuban restaurant in Downey, California and right next...

    New find. Concept u3103

No problem Husky. And good to hear that there's still some being used as daily drivers. This was practically the machine that started my love for old Hoovers. I hope to find one in this good a shape one of these days. Oh you mean the early models I assume, one of those rarely pop up online, but...

    New find. Concept u3103

I had this exact machine!! But this one is in much better condition than I one I got for a penny at age 7. For $10 that's a great deal. As for the noise, it most likely needs general service. I don't believe it will take much to get one of these running silky smooth again. Congrats on this find...

700 and an old GE upright.

The GE it gonna come out quite nicely with a polish! And its pretty sweet that you don't have to wash out the bag on it as well.

700 and an old GE upright.

They come up every now and then on eBay, I got mine off eBay about 2 years ago all for $35 it was REALLY beat to hell and back. One thing that killed off these Portables were failing motors. I regularly lubricate mine and haven't had any problems since then. Hot dang, you managed to hide 40...

700 and an old GE upright.

All nice machines, though its a shame you don't have them anymore. I think I would refer to that as "Character" :P Doesn't appear to be that bad. This is what my 700 looked like before I got through it.

700 and an old GE upright.

I was wondering about that but its alright. That 700 looks pretty amazing, even more so with its original bumper. A model 800 is on my wanted list lol, they're great vacuums with art deco styling. :) My collection is rather small. (mostly due to space) I have my Model 700, My Hoover Dustette...

    Update on the 700

Thanks to a good friend, I had a much better bag installed on my 700. The bag has also been lined with a C bag for easy cleaning. Along with the new cord in place last month its looking quite dapper. The paint on the handle is the original paint so I will leave it alone. The flash from the...

700 and an old GE upright.

I was wondering that myself. Glad to meet ya. :D Oh, I should mention, the bag on your 700 is on backwards.

Are old vacuums really that dirty?

I pretty much summed it up. No not really. If anything, sweeping a dirty floor is much worse. (launching dust up into the air and hardly cleaning the floor) The only spewing of dust that occurs is when you toss the old paper bag into the trash can and nothing more. Which in reality isn't harmful...

700 and an old GE upright.

This is just a guesstimate but I would assume it to be a mid 30s, early 40s replacement. The early 30's replacements just look somewhat similar to original bag. (Unrelated, It's good to meet another Fur in the vacuum hobby)

Are old vacuums really that dirty?

I'm not sure what you mean but I'll list a few statements. Funny thing is, some old cleaners clean better than the newer chinese 12 amp vacuums that people buy and toss 2 years later. The process of manufacturing something is always dirty. Be it batteries or the process of getting raw material...
