    Speaking of eBay...

I was watching this very old Hoover on eBay. Can anyone tell me about it. It closed this evening for a very high amount. The winning bidder is that fellow who seems to have extremely deep pockets and always wins in the end...

    IT RUNS!

eBay eBay cracks me up in general. I often see everyday items touted as rare or even vintage when they are not. So much misinformation in many descriptions too.

    In the Closet

Thanks for all the replies. It was very enlightening to read that others have had similar experiences, and your "coming out" stories were inspiring. You are correct that I should embrace the hobby and scream it from the rooftops, as it is part of what makes me uniquely me. I am sure I will get...

    In the Closet

Hi Sireluxomatic, You are correct about how I feel, it's not embarrassment, more awkwardness, because I know most would really not understand. The majority of people have a hard time in general paying more than the bare minimum for a vacuum from the store as it is, and here I am acquiring them...

Wow! $110 for the spirit? Did you get it on eBay? It must be a great vacuum. I noticed you are in Northeast Pa, whereabouts?

    In the Closet

Well, I was relaxing this evening and about 11pm, my friend Sasha called and wanted to come over for awhile. I said sure, but as soon as I hung up the phone I started panicking...What do I do with the Vacuums???? Sure, I could leave the hoses out and about and and the crevice tools, dusting...

Here's one on eBay with a gray bag. Did they come with gray bags too? The cord looks like it might be gray also. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170161993708&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007#ebayphotohosting

Pete, They were even crazier when it was 69 dollars! I don't think it has all the attachments either. I can see the Kirby for $70. I would consider the spirit if it was $10 maybe.

    One More Hoover

Ok, this is the last one for now, I promise (actually it is the last one I have to show you). I am not sure when this one was made, so I may be pushing by posting it on the vintage forum. This was my last purchase from this past week. This was also from the thrift where I got my light blue...

Pete, I am going to see if the other one sits there for a bit. I have a hunch it will. They have a Kirby heritage there that has been sitting for ages. They wanted 70 dollars for it originally now it is down to 40 (and it even has all its attachments). At this point I think they would take any...

Blue hoover Rescued from Thrift Store

Thank you for the encouragement. I am pleased with this one and it is my favorite upright. It was great to re-assemble it and put it to work. Sounds so strong and works like a charm. The hardest thing about this was putting a new belt on, it took several days of tugging to stretch it and get it...

    Another Thrifty Hoover

This is another Hoover I stumbled across during my "week of Hoovers" odyssey. I found this thrift store in the phone book and decided to give it a try. It was late in the afternoon about an hour before closing when I spied this in their downstairs housewares/furniture room. I looked at it then...
