    Can anyone give me ideas about what I might have done on reassembly that would explain overheating and then the motor having little suck when it returns? I will take it back apart but would love to know where to look. Reassembling it seemed like a nightmare... but I will try to be more...

    THanks for your response, rugsucker. I found reassembling it to be very difficult... so I wondered the same thing. But it did work after reassembly and it's the overheating event that marks when it stopped working. Maybe something I did reassembling caused that?

    The motor works but doesn’t suck well enough. Can these motors be damaged so the they have diminished power or must something else be at issue — such as whatever made it overheat in the first place?

    I have the opposite problem of every post and video I can find — my chord is not stuck, rather it won’t ever stop retracting. The action to pause it isn’t working. I have not taken it apart yet….
