Royal brush roll repairing failed bearing...

Thanks to several of you I found the correct brush roll on eBay and oddly its from the same exact seller who sent me the wrong one even though I sent him the exact model #! Should have it by Wednesday. Being one who dislikes throwing away serviceable parts I have now analysed two failed...

How to change individual brushes on Royal brushroll

Trying to cannabalize a Royal brushroll that has good brushes onto another brushroll that has worn out brushes. Can anyone assist? Do you have to remove the chrome bearing endcaps to remove the brushes? Do they just push out? Apparently the brushes were available independently at one time with...

Royal 97001 new brushroll issue hitting green light mechanism

ROYAL BRUSH ROLL WITH MAGNET-HEX END, 2673274000 Ben you are correct as the number of individual brushes on the magnetic end is only 8 unlike the others that are 9 or 10. This prevents the spinning brush from hitting on the inside of the green light mechanism. One would think the vacuum sellers...

Modifying Royal Brushroll question about green light mechanism

I bought a replacement Royal OEM brushroll from eBay vendor. All wood $30 delivered. I contacted him in advance to be certain that his OEM brushroll was the right one for my 97001. He assured me it was. It is not as it hits on the inside of green light mechanism. Because it seems nearly...

Bought Old Vacuum, Seller Unresponsive, What Should I Do?

eBay only works with good will. Your seller has none. Having well over 300 purchases it is not good selling practices to leave a buyer hanging even for an item costing only a few bucks. A good sale happens when seller sends a tracking # and or a note saying when they shipped and for an item with...

    A Three Dollar Royal!

I have a bench grinder so suppose I could get a polishing wheel. Or a smaller wheel to fit an electric drill. Any idea how many hours it took?

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

Today I flipped it over and propped it up so I could see the drive lever more clearly. I took a screwdriver and pushed on the bar that goes first to a wishbone shaped coupler and then into the transmission while running the motor. I was able to get the power wheels to engage in reverse but...

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

Dial-a-Matic Repaint Replaced the belt driving the transmission and as suspected it made no difference. I have never replaced belts on vacuums until they break and have never noticed a difference in operation. I took some photos of this machine after the repaint done because of yellowing of...

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

Just checked 'er again. pulled the handle apart, no mechanical issue there. I put the machine on its side and activated the handle watching the bent arm that goes around the outside of motor, and it appears to be working fine. Then moved the arm at the motor back and forth and that made no...

    A Three Dollar Royal!

What a score!! Really nice polishing job too. I was given a nearly identical "Classic" and would like to polish it. Can you possible give some details on how you did it what machine / compounds you used? I tried polishing mine by hand with Mother's aluminum polish and realized it was going to...

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

belts work no transmission activation with handle Belts were intact and spin properly when powered up. Now I remember having seen that both are powered by the motors drive shaft. My handle seems to be working properly and moves the forward reverse arm on the motor but alas no transmission...

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

Amazing that I have had this for over 25 years and never had the Drive Belt fail, as I did not even know there were 2 belts. Will turn it over and have a look tomorrow... thanks

    Hoover Dialamatic issue

I have an old Dialamatic in excellent condition but little used. Just fired it up and the brush roll cleans nicely but it appears the power drive is not activating. Years back replaced the handle. Never made any strange sounds and is super clean. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot it...

Electrolux Model B21 And B27 Shampooer

removing gears Hi Vernon Finally got the bumper off. But I don't see a way to get the front gears off; it seems that a white plastic ring hold the spindle and don't see a way of removing them (got the small rngs off the groove on the spindles).
