Anyone have or tried a Roomba or Scooba?

For what it does, the Roomba is a neat little device. I got one for $20 at a pawn shop last year. Sorry to admit that I can't use it because so many of my old rugs have fringe and the dogs go nuts when I turn it on. It does look well made, though. It makes me wonder about the Lux Trilobite...

I gave myself a very nice Christmas gift

A very nice present indeed! I was so close to buying one myself, but I'm a daily vacuum user and have dogs and furniture to dodge. I've opted for a Sebo Felix for now, but I'm fickle. Keep us posted on your experience with this machine. I have heard a few others say that they had problems with...

    question for Charles-Richard

Thanks Charlie! I thought that was it. As far as an Interstate / Oreck connection (shudder! wince!), it was probably just "big Dave" Oreck being himself and snapping up another expired patent license on another brand of machine. From my experience selling Tri-Star in the mid 80's, we were never...

    question for Charles-Richard

I noticed in photo 13 of your collection shots, there is turquoise floor machine in the corner. What brand is it? It looks like a machine that was sold under the Amdeko name, which nowadays is the Oreck Orbiter. The turq. color looks like a powder-coat finish like the old Compacts (such a...

    questions about my TriStar

Thanks Tom everything is fine with it for now. I don't have all the tools and it's not high on my list yet. I'm actually thinking about trying a more powerful Lamb motor because I'm not pleased with the suction. On the back burner for now.

    Oreck orbiter

I had to post this thread because I saw so many messages about the Hoover Floor Mate. I did a little improvising with my Orbiter that has worked quite well. I use the black plastic backup plate (normally for the scrub pads or the carpet bonnet), to this I attached 2 of the long...

Thanks Derreck! I liked the original scent too. I've never smelled the lemon.

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

The Lindhaus is also a very good machine, but their uprights tend to weigh more and have less powerful suction than the Sebo. Their power nozzle is extremely agressive and I suppose that's why they do so well in a commercial setting. Their Valzer HEPA upright is ideal for a household...

    Electrolux 'Clean Sweep" granules.

They work really well. After I had assumed that they were gone, I figured out how to make my own using naturally based fragrances. I'm sure the Clean Sweep fragrance is synthetic, but it's probably cheaper than what I do.

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

the only shortcoming about the Felix I wish it had a second handle on the body to make it more maneuverable for stairs. Some of us have an old die-hard habit of using an upright on stairs. I'll gradually grow accustomed to using the hose with one of the tools, I suppose. Still, this is the most...

    Electrolux 'Clean Sweep" granules.

Deja Vu! Reminds me of when my grandmother would get mad at me for using more than one packet in a bag when using her 1205. I wanted it to smell stronger. Glad to know it's still available.

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

Something I just realized, Being a part-time artist/designer, I'm always stumbling upon little tidbits of color theory, color history and aspects of marketing trends for color in the design world (blah blah blah). Anyway, Windsor's signature color for the VersaMatic, VersaMatic Plus...

    heard the funniest thing today

He's not too far off! In the vintage vac forum, thread #411, photo #6, you see some upright's in DysonMan's vacuum pit. Look at the the black Whirlpool upright to the far left. Notice the size and shape of the nozzle head. It's identical to the old PowerMate nozzle that Kenmore produced in the...

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

about purchasing online.............. Be very very careful. I've seen some online outfits which are connected to so-called 'shopping' search engines. Your search results will usually show the desired machine listed at a ridiculously low price. I pursued this once online only to find that the...

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

Let me chime in........ I'm the one who bought the Sebo Felix from Dysonman. It's a wonderful machine and I do appreciate the fact that it has more than adequate power at way under 12 amps. Let me get off the subject for a moment: the problem with 12 amp machines is the wiring in our homes. 12...

ServiceMaster Hi Bisonian! I had a friend who also worked for ServiceMaster and relayed similar stories to me like yours. He wasn't quite as polite as you are about their shade of turquoise.
