..."Does one end have a set screw in the original? "... No there are no set screws. ..."Please buy a new one.".... I have ordered one on ebay but still trying to go for a repair on the broken one as I like the challenge, the experience never goes wrong.

    G4 headlamp bracket removal

I always struggle to get this part off, I do manage it but feel there must be a `proper` way to be doing it. I basically prise the 2 top lips out from the casing but feel one of these times they are going to snap. Any suggestions.

    Kirby G3 Restoration

You done a good job restoring that considering the state it was in. Having looked at your images I cant see what the issue is with Kirby re the tech drive and `dont dismantle it` I would have been straight in there.I always take the view if I have to replace it then try fixing it first...

What's the best screw gun for restoring vacs?

I use a cordless drill with torque settings and hammer function as I find that useful for stubborn screws. its the cheap end of the market 18v with lithium ion battery, I go for the cheap end as normally battery replacements would cost more than a new drill (uk) I think I paid under £30 which...

New to forum, Kirby vacuum questions

...."If you haven't already drilled that screw head off, try using an impact wrench"..... What has worked for me in the past with some screws is using my cordless drill (with screwdriver bit) on the `hammer` setting.

    G series hose replacement

fantomfan57.........There is probably some merit in the warning, however at my late stage in life I am more worried about all the toxins I have been exposed to over the years before we got all the warnings on the back of packs, seriously I cringe at some of the stuff I have been exposed to, back...

    G series hose replacement

I have plenty of zip ties. I found this on ebay (£3.49) which is called e6000. Do you reckon 25ml will be sufficient? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZHANLIDA-E6000-Glue-Multi-Purpose-Industrial-Strength-Craft-Beads-25ml-5ml-3ml/183387744772?hash=item2ab2c2ea04:m:mOyPOUq4PE4yPpUHQsCz_0g:rk:10:pf:0

    G series hose replacement

When replacing the dust bag hose on a Kirby, I notice that there is what appears to be heat shrink tape used to seal both ends, assuming this is what is used is this readily available from wherever (UK) I have searched ebay but they only seem to have `tubing` for electrical wire. Any ideas for...

    Cleaning plastic accessories?

My wifes original Kirby G5 I have cleaned and polished after 20 years (long overdue) however to finish the clean up I will clean the `plastic` accessories not that they have been used much but after 20 years it wont do any harm. My question is has anyone ever stuck them in a dishwasher and do...

    The end?

Oldskoolguy, Do try and get some decent images of the part and what goes where if you can, including the 2 broken parts. It will be interesting to see if it is repairable.

    The end?

Same as Madman I am not sure what I should be looking at, does the diagram help identify the issue? Assuming it is a similar model.

    The end?

Any chance of a picture of the terminal as it may give others some idea how to repair it.

...........” Anyways, the metal body has lots of spots on it(corrosion of the metal?) I've been told that Mothers Polish from Wal-Mart will clean that up?”……………. If polish doesn’t get the corrosion marks out don’t be afraid to use wet & dry grit, I had some deep scratches on one I was tiding up...

    Yoke tab, Kirby Tradition, welded

......"That is a LOT of work and hassle for a part that costs $2. Can I ask why you simply didn't buy a new one? In my life, I've changed hundreds of them when I worked at my vacuum repair shop"......... In the first instance I always try and repair things, just my nature. Secondly the part is...

    I am being silly, but.......

Come on guys do you think I would seriously destroy a working Kirby. Just me thinking out loud and wondering if it would work. As for the neighbours garden I adjoin a wooded area which is where the leaves come from. I didn't intend to upset members.

    I am being silly, but.......

I have a not so good G5 and currently have 2 extension hoses. Out the back along side my fence I have loads of leaves so I was thinking put a hose on the intake and one on the outlet and get the kirby to sling the leaves over the fence. Putting aside any possible fan damage has anyone ever tried...

    Continuity

Hopefully someone will have better knowledge on this. As far as I am aware if there is continuity then the meter will make a buzzing noise. If you touch the 2 probes together you will hear it to check the meter is working, then place the probes at opposite ends of the wire to be checked, it...
