    Painting an Electrolux... Advice Needed!

Greetings fellow Windsorite I would check out Canadian Tire's automotive section. I have had reasonable success in the past finding hammer-tone and metallic paints there, that were used for cars and outboard boat motors, and are a close match to those used on vintage appliances, fans, etc. If...

OMG... it does exist! Awesome find!!!

Congrats Fred, What a fabulous find! Do you have any idea of how many of these carts were produced?

    POD 09/11/11 Odd bird?

Ooops LOL I meant to refer to today's POD. I was in a hurry when I posted this morning, and apparently wasn't thinking clearly. Do you have any idea what the color scheme was on this unit?

    POD 09/11/11 Odd bird?

I've never seen one of these. Were there not a lot of them sold? Does anyone have one, or have pictures of one?

    Filterqueen Optima

I have rairly worked on a FQ this new, but Isn't there supposed to be a cone shaped grill over top of that motor/secondary filter? I shouldn't think this would cost $250! Perhaps someone is trying to rip you off. Be careful of vac shop "advice". It certainly looks better than junk yard material!

    Rare XXX on eBay

Thank you Doug! I have always wondered how that odd metal tube on the 57 accommodated a disposable bag. Would the paper bag not eventually be sucked off into the cloth bag as the paper clogged with dust? Or, is the tube ribbed to prevent this? I can't recall any ribbing, but its been a long...

The first Power Nozzles - History, Queries and Suppositions.

I came across these last summer, quite unexpectedly, while shopping for some unrelated item. I was wondering why the green one looked like it had an additional "1" stamped into the metal base-plate beside the PN1. Its all so clear to me now.

An Electrolux 80 series vacancy about to be filled.

Great find Dave! What a coincidence! I just finished cleaning up from a re-upholstery project with my V2 86. I have not seen any V1's locally, perhaps due to the local economy of the period during which they were sold. I'm not sure that I'd want a bumper-less unit as an everyday driver. When...

    my 1st connie model 851

Brad, For the secondary filter, I simply get a piece of felt, trace out a circle onto it, cut it out, and then install it. If my memory serves me correctly, I used a 12" 33 1/3 lp record as a template for this the last time I made one. I believe that both the style "J" bags, as well as this...

    my 1st connie model 851

What a stellar Constellation! Congratulations! It looks to be in great shape. The Canadian top-intake model I have has the more muted dusty rose/taupe colour scheme. These colours are just lovely. I am particularly fond of the models with the full doughnut-like hover ring, as they feel so...

    new vacuums

I had also heard about imported Super J's A veteran vacuum shop owner in Windsor had mentioned that the Super J's were imported into Canada to meet market demands for new machines during a labor strike. I had seen this model montage at the Aerus dealer, and thought it rather silly that they...

one of my 28(s) and matching polisher

re: The polisher I just waxed the flooring in my flat, and afterward tried removing the brushes to clean them. I forgot how much of a pain this can be on these machines. Oh! Could they have come up with a more frustrating mechanism than that spring loaded ball bearing, that requires about 3...

    can i??

Not having a full Kirby shampoo setup, I have only used a Bissell Little Green Machine to clean upholstery. I would imagine that as long as you can maneuver your equipment comfortably within the vehicle, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm located on the other side, in Windsor, On...

    can i??

Sigh, a man that cleans his car :) I find that my Kirby turbo/zip brush works quite well at bringing up the nap of matted down auto carpet. Just be careful not to suck up any small stones with it, as they aren't very well excepted by plastic turbine. P.S. I hope that you get that Elux, they...

    Hudson hand vac

It's likely from Detroit's legendary J.L.Hudson dept I have a Hudson branded Royal hand vac that I picked up in the Detroit area. I've also seen electronics and fertilizer spreaders branded with the Hudson logo. Nice find!

    electrolux model 89

This uses the same square felt-like filter as the Automatic I have been able to find them at the shop I go to in Windsor. I'm not sure if they are N.O.S. or if they are still being made and sold elsewhere. Michael

    EOM bags

I am always amazed at how much dust escapes through the pores of lux bags, and why Electrolux (U.S.) did away with the secondary filter. On the Canadian machines that I have, the after motor filter catches a great deal of fine particulates which have escaped the bag and are produced by the...

A recap of Universal / Atlas straight suction non-uprights...

Thats a very impressive new unit you have there, Mr. Crevice I am too curious about that additional disk filter. Please post a photo of the duct work when you have dismantled it. With the spectacular job that you did on the red Atlas, I can't wait to see how that hammertone paint buffs up! A...

    Cleaning Selector- Silverado 1505

I've had automatic door Electroluxes from the 60's that still function. As long as the silicone hasn't adhered to any other surfaces, and the rubber membrane moves freely as it should, I see no reason why that shouldn't fix your problem. I just did a tune up on one of my Lux door mechanisms...
