Can you disconnect the hose from the brass piece? Then take a picture of the pieces apart? If it only leaks when it's connected to the floor tool and not the hand tool that perhaps there is a damaged or missing "O" ring.

If it's a small constant leak it may need to simply be changed. If this is the part, it's practically a common hardware item. It may also simply be a rubber "O" ring that needs replacement. Do you have a photo of the part that's leaking?[this post was last edited: 3/7/2021-00:09]...

While I don't wish any harm to any animal, humans have allowed these poor creatures to over populate and now they are an exploited pest animal. At the very least I hope it is fixed. At least there was food, water, and liter box in the wire floored cage.

The rust/almond color combination.   I always liked Hoover's pastel color combinations in the late 60s to the late 80s.  It's worth buying if only for the artsy color.
