Great observation! Essentially, they are Panasonics. This upright was either designed or made by Panasonic. I think that they where designed and made by Panasonic for Sears Roebuck.

I own one of those But it's got some issues like a broken handle release and the bristles are worn. As it performs poorly because of its issues, it sits in a corner collecting dust.
