Hoover Model 475 with 'new' bag!

Thanks for the comments I am really pleased with how this bag turned out. Its the only model that has this unusual orangy red colour. Almost like Hoover was fed up with orange and wanted to try red but couldnt quite make the jump! (Model 825 was red though) Hi Walter, Id forgotten Id put the...

Hoover Model 475 with 'new' bag!

Well, here is my model 475 with a bag that looks original but isnt. It's actually a standard black and white replacement bag which I have altered. The Model 475 original bag is very similar except that the lines go right down to the bottom of the bag and 'EMPTY EACH TIME USED' is written under...

    The Hoover model 800

Brass badges I have had 4 800s, only 1 had an aluminium badge. The others have brass badges. 1 has the paint almost completely polished off it. As far as I know, the brass triangular badges were used on the top of the range machines up to 1932 ie. Model 700, 725, 750 (orange with black...

Hoover Junior 370 - polished alloy

Thanks for the replies I have tried to polish another 370 I had some years ago - I couldnt do it - the metal did not come up properly - just a dull finish. I assumed from that that this polished 370 was made from the more expensive magnesium alloy used for the castings of the 800 and 450. So I...

Hoover Junior 370 - polished alloy

Here's one of my 370s - the only one I have ever seen which is polished like the big Hoovers. My theory is that it is one of the 1935 Jubilee models - maybe they were polished to make them special. Pity I dont have the right bag!

    Cardboard Attachment Carriers

160 carrier Yes the 160 tool carrier is great. Good colour co-ordination. The carrier and hose came in a box which is also colour co-ordinated - I have one like yours with box and carrier and hose. The 262 tools also had a carrier very similar which strangely seems to be just as rare if not...

    Hoover 425

Not too hard to make an 'original' 475 bag I suppose you could create an original 475 bag by matching the right orange colour and painting the white stripes etc. on a black replacement Hoover bag - that is so long as you have the bag with the 4 blocks of vertical strips, not 2 like some of...

    Hoover 425

Model 875 Bag! Wow - the best part of your 425 is the bag - if I'm not mistaken it is the bag from a Model 875. The first Bakelite hood model after the 825 - late 1930s. A rare bag indeed!

    Exhibition update

Great exhibition Jack Hi Jack. I popped into the Lightbox last weekend to catch your exhibition. Excellent! Our taste's in Hoovers are almost identical. It looks like my collection with a few exceptions! Very nice. The best thing for me was the 925. It's the first time I have seen a 925...

    Hoover 825 stripdown - help!

Wow! A model 825! How did you get your hands on one of those! I have 3 Model 800s but I have never come across an 825. Do post some pics when you have time. We'd love to see it.

    Hoover Model 28

Fantastic Hoover! Such a pity we never had it over in the UK. We had to make do with the Model 262 (Model 26 in the US?). The next model after that was the 612 (Model 60 and 61). Maybe they felt that the market, esp. after the war, wasnt big enough and couldnt support another new model. Was...

    Hoover Model 700 from 1926

Words on US and UK Bags Did you know that the US bags had 'EMPTY AFTER EACH CLEANING' on them, whearas the UK bags had 'EMPTY EACH TIME USED'? Just another ephemeral piece of information!

    Hoover Model 700 from 1926

Top Machines Yes, its one of my favorites. I was lucky to come across this one - must have been 1 careful owner from new I think! It is in my top 5 along with the Model 800, Model 652, Constellation 822 and Model 612. The 825 and 638 are not far behind.
