Very unusual old vac - The Croydon made by Electric Suction Cleaner Company in Croydon. Any info?

Yes it is that one! and I found it in the back of an electrical shop in Whitton, Twickenham. the owner said that his dad, who used to run the shop, said that it was 'a very old cleaner'. Looks like it is from your picture! Thanks a lot.

Very unusual old vac - The Croydon made by Electric Suction Cleaner Company in Croydon. Any info?

Thanks guys. Anyone in the UK got one or seen one before? Wikipedia says that the Electric Suction Sweeper Company was what Hoover was called in the UK before they became Hoover. Not sure whether that sounds right to me.

    unusual Hoover demo circa 1960

Was it this machine... I have this picture of a demonstration from the 1933 fair at Chicago. Could the machine you used at the hardware store be the same one as at the Chicago fair? Maybe the guy salvaged it after it finished??

Your advert reminded me - the cleaning tools, complete with double stretch blue hose, were kept in a wooden cupboard (made by my dad) at...

What was you parents first vacuum!????

Hoover Senior Model 638 My parents set up home in 1959. My mum didnt like the new Hoover Deluxe Model 652 because it was pink so they bought one of the late blue model 638s which had just come to the end of its production run. Great machine - used to Hoover with it quite a lot. I remember...

Just restored Hoover Senior Ranger U4058

Hi Tommy Nice pics! I remember last year you posted a late 1970s catalogue with this model in. Looks like the UK version had an orange badge whereas yours has a red one. I think it was the last model to have the cleaning tool slot at the back and 2 speed motor. Anyway it runs and cleans well...

Just restored Hoover Senior Ranger U4058

Hi Mark Thanks for the info. Looks like it was produced in Australia, Europe, UK and maybe other countries but not North America. I think this was the only colour too, which makes it a rather unusual model.
