Need parts for Hoover Dial-A-Matic, Convertible, or Decade?

I'm still waiting on a couple of folks to get back to me with their payments for parts. If I don't hear from them soon, the next people in line get a shot at what remains.

    Panasonic MC -5115 question

Tried all kinds of different things in a pinch. I usually reach for a new(er) rubber support, and that fixes it. The one I recently did though, a plastic zip tie around the part that rests on the main body/ motor cover took up the extra space and fixed that one. It's all about taking up that...

Okay guys, Sent emails to everyone for their requests so far.

    Panasonic MC -5115 question

Typical wear on the nozzle and base. I would then suspect the rubber motor support on the belt side is allowing the belt spindle to travel too far front, making the belt ride outwards. That happens alot on these old 5100's.

    Panasonic MC -5115 question

Take off the bottom plate and look at the pivot points. The belt side. Sometimes the motor cover can be broken and the base will have alot of play in it, allowing the belt to ride against the wall of the base. You can put new bearings in these motors. You do need to drill the rivots and...

    Oreck

The Pilot is still fairly new. I haven't had any come to me yet. Guess they're still under warranty. The standard XL models get fans pretty often, mainly from wear though. Those tiny fans can slam through alot of stuff before a blade goes flying. Alot of times housings do indeed get cracked and...

I've wanted one of these for so long

Usually the cord was the only reason they stopped running. The purple model you have there was the first of the Direct Drive machines. The early models have cords with aluminum prongs. Theses cords failed often, so they started replacing them with cords that had brass prongs. The handle release...

    CLOSED DOWN VAC SHOP FINDS!

That room reminds me of the first location of my store. It was an 80+ year old place that had a garage/shack type part to it. Even I had my parts machine room looking better than that.

    powermate jr.

Often Whispertones were sold with a color-matching PM Jr., if the model was a more expensive unit. An Off-the-shelf PM Jr. is usually just darker gray, and was made to fit most Kenmore cansiters from the 1970's to "Present". Present being the early 2000's, when they started selling the newer/...

I've wanted one of these for so long

The direct drive motor in these uprights actually resides inside the brushroller itself, and it's pretty hefty and reliable. At the end of the motor is a gear cog and three planetary gears that run along an outside ring gear, which is keyed into the brushroller itself. Externally, without taking...

    They are coming!

20 year warranty? Who's honoring that? Not a Rexair dealer.

    LUX PN 2

Was there a PN3? Have yet to see it. 6 was similar to 5, but had a smaller circuit breaker and styling changes to the top cover.

    Old Bags

Type J bags are still made by aftermarket sources.

Pushing a Kirby to its limits?

I can tell you from experience of using the Sanitaire's commercially; the wide models don't pick up as well as the standard width. I think there's too much displacement provided for airflow, and the cleaning ability is compromised. Maybe if a more aggressive motor was used it could help that...

    LUX PN 2

I have lots of stuff myself, but new aftermarket parts are no problem for all you need. Easy things to find. It would still be good to see a pic of what you have, to be sure of what we're working with.
