What is the best Kirby model made?

I guess the question is: "Define BEST"? If the vote is for the one we like the most, I would've voted for Omega (my first, and one very classy looking machine). Omega IS the reason I acquired four other ones, AFTER I restored the Omega, and went nuts over it's looks and performance. IMO, it IS...

    My new Kirby Avalir....

Since I'm a newbie here, I have no idea "who rubs who's back" here, who is cheeky, and who knows what they are talking about. But I know machines, and I tore apart five Kirbys in the scope of six weeks, refurbished them, and I'm using them DAILY (not all five on the same day obviously). I have...

    D.I.Y. Kirby Fan Replacement

Regarding sealant..........I've seen them sealed with clear, gray, and black silicone (I guess whatever the repair shop had on hand at the time). Since I don't have a need for silicone on the daily basis, I had to go and buy it specifically for sealing my Kirbys. So I bought the "marine", clear...

What is the best Kirby model made?

Thank you for that explanation. Seems like the majority of Kirby customers are not that bright then? LOL This is a rhetorical question, ......paying 2-3 grand (and allowing unscrupulous "sales teams" in one's home to begin with!) for a vacuum is by definition "not too bright". I read the...

What is the best Kirby model made?

I didn't mean to say that Avalir cleans better than Sentria (and I agree the Avalir IS Sentria with a different trim). I meant that IMO Avalir doesn't clean any better than Diamond, or even Heritage line. Kirby found a great system, and they just keep repeating it with different cosmetic...

What is the best Kirby model made?

I happen to like the dual speed switch on Diamond. As far as aesthetics go,......I think pre G series were very artistic. I use Omega, Heritage 2, and Diamond the most. Never used Sentria, or Avalir. Sentria is ugly to me, and Avalir has a lot of eye appeal, but I don't think it cleans any...

    Which Kirby

I have five Kirbys. One G4, and one Ultimate Diamond among them. IMO the Ultimate Diamond IS the best of the modern Kirby line up. Only because of the "dual power" switch. Aesthetically they look the same, but with G4 there is extra work involved in vacuuming small mats, area rugs, etc. G4...

New wool loop carpeting...need suitable canister type.

Sorry,....just read my post, and realized that "pulling the line" (as we called it in the industry), might not be understandable to all readers. "Close loop carpet" (also known as "Berber"), is woven in one continuous line of yarn across the width of the material. All other carpet is "stitched"...

New wool loop carpeting...need suitable canister type.

I never posted in this section, but this discussion provoked me to respond. From mid to late nineties, I owned a flooring company, specializing in all types of flooring (carpet, hardwood, vinyl, tile). That gives me some credentials to speak about the OP's question about Berber. And since I am...

Kirby Classic III parts and advice please. Already posted in Super Market

That's easy-peasy fix. Don't give up. You can get the new bag from the web (search, vacsplusstore.com), that would fix the blowing around the base of the bag. It comes with the new gasket sewn in already. The gasket to seal the sani emtor to the fan housing, is an "O" ring, and it can be also...

    Good looking family

Well guys,......I mentioned before that I like restoring things, all kinds of things, and I do have "some" experience in this (getting old, and remembering more than I care to remember). Some day, I will get Sanitronic 50 (1965), and Avalir (2015), and I'll have all machines for every decade of...

    Good looking family

Thank you guys. Re: Knotty Pine walls The whole house is like that inside, with vaulted ceilings, and open rafters (all pine). House was built in 1860s, and it's a local landmark. Used to be Wells Fargo stage coach stop, and sheriff's office. We LOVE it. Re: Facebook I truly appreciate the...

    Good looking family

From the left: 1955 Model 515 1975 Omega 1985 Heritage 2 1995 G4 2005 Diamond Diamond wanted to come out for the pic, but it's still missing the bumper (on the way). Obviously Sanitronic 50 (1965) is missing from the picture, and unless one falls into my lap, I won't be looking for one. This...

All it takes is money! (and the lack of knowledge)

Last night I was invited to a cocktail party. Nice people, nice neighborhood, good drinks,......not bad. Got into the conversation with the host, and after he asked me what I've been up to lately (and I mentioned Kirby), he said that he just bought a new one! Took me to the "broom closet" to...

Another "basket case" finds the home!

Thank you for your reply. I have the original manual with Omega, and electronic downloads for the rest. What really surprised me, is reading the Ultimate Diamond manual, and looking for explanation on operating the "dual speed switch" (or "delicate"). I knew what it does, but not how it needs to...

Another "basket case" finds the home!

I posted in another thread that I will restore more Kirbys, as they become available to me, and give them to friends as presents. I am seriously reconsidering that decision. It's not that I am addicted to having dozens of Kirbys in my house. I am addicted to restoring them, and seeing what can...

    Horror stories!

Thank you gentlemen. My original post was in reaction to the negative posts (and Youtube videos), about shady sales tactics of the Kirby "sales teams". I also found some positively toned posts, and people being satisfied with how they were treated, although it was very few of them. The vast...

Another "basket case" finds the home!

Never mind about the Diamond bag. Just got everything I need from Kent ("kirbyfans"), for $69.- ....not bad. A week of entertainment in restoring this thing.

Another "basket case" finds the home!

I promise this will be the last one! (says the confirmed addict!). As some of you remember, so far I have restored several Kirbys (515, Omega, Heritage 2, and G4). G4 is getting ready for the "photo op", and the pic will be posted probably tomorrow (waiting for delivery of the headlight lens...

    Horror stories!

Re: Replay #13 Dysonman I agree with everything you said, and since I owned two car dealerships in the past (new, and used), and worked as an executive for a nation wide advertising company for a while, I came across much of what you are saying. The "system" of "training", and the structure of...
