    Dream vac acquired! Fantom Thunder!

Liquid carnauba car wax will shine a Fantom right up to like new condition. I've got tons of Thunders, they last virtually forever. I'm not sure what Sonwil actually means. 200 Sonwil drive (behind the Buffalo airport there are a bunch of warehouse buildings) was one of Fantom's US addresses...

Kenmore Destiny (Fantom Thunder) 9 amp

Yeah it was around 1991 Sears here carried them. I remember the 9 amp ones being on clearance when the 11 amp ones arrived. I don't know if it was nationwide distribution or just because we were close to the whole operation.

Kenmore Destiny (Fantom Thunder) 9 amp

Wow 9 amp ones are had to find. I've only seen one ever, they imported them through Buffalo where I live and I've seen tons of Fantoms over the years and own 20 or more. I garbage picked a Fantom version once, there are some minor variations, the Fantom one had a longer cyclone cone than normal...

Rainbow e2 bpack HEPA life time

My analogy of the tea kettle wasn't about the evaporation but rather to state there were noticeable minerals in water that wasn't even that hard, if you wash the HEPA filter in that or slosh the water around creating droplets I'd think one too could eventually leave enough deposits to hinder air...

Rainbow e2 bpack HEPA life time

I would think so I just bought a new electric tea kettle, there are already minerals collecting on the stainless and I have been using it for maybe a week, my water isn't even that hard.

Rainbow e2 bpack HEPA life time

Minerals in the water I bet it's not so much the dust as thenfilters mostly remain white but rather minerals from hard water that clog the filters. I wonder what would happen with filtered or distilled water.

    Fantom Technologies Inc (Announcement)

Trademarks If the trademarks are unused and not renewed for a certain period of time they revert to public domain. I don't think Fantom is anywhere near that yet.

    KMart vacuums ???? ????

Shrunken TV department is common, they said they wanted to shift the bulk of electronics sales to online a few quarters ago, makes sense TVs have low markup but with ever bigger screens take up lots of floor room. Oddly the Kmart has a massive amount of TVs a huge long aisle of TVs. Ours...

What Fantom Would've Made Had They Didn't Go Under

Shark should just rerelease the original designs I'm sure the necessary patents are up, the Thunder/Domestic is probably still the best performing cyclonic bagless released in North America.

    KMart vacuums ???? ????

I was just at a fairly well maintained Kmart, looks like they shifted most of the vac line to Kenmore branded vacs but they're the lower end of the ones they carry at Sears. Our Sears just expanded the vac department and also seems to be focusing more on Kenmore branded vacs.

Vacuums That Sold Poorly & Died An Early Death

I wouldn't say Fantom died quickly they were around for a good 12 years and killed themselves. They sold in droves though and I still regularly see them in thrift stores. When I worked in housewares in college I literally ordered pallets of Furys and they sold like hot cakes. Samsung still...

Strange things at Sears vacuum department

The Sears closest to me just expanded their Vac dept since we were last there. This must be on a store by store basis.

The WORST vacuum cleaners, Ever made. In History.

On the comment of Fantoms from 2001, I have a Thunder from right before they went bankrupt. It's the same as any Thunder.

Strange things at Sears vacuum department

Rumor from an associate I know is most electronics will shift to online for floor space to free up room for furniture. I know some of the stores already have furniture.

Another reason to love my Rainbow

They've been around since I worked there but I think it's less popular than the rainjet , it's like a pad type mop but the Rainbow sucks the air back through it. They work well on tile floors and such, we used to train with them cleaning the floor in the hallway of the office.

???? Last really well built vacuum made???

Plastic shouldn't be a non consideration. I've got many early Fantom Thunders and still find 20+ year old ones at thrifts with nothing wrong with them. When I worked at Rainbow I used to call people to demo the new one and I can't tell you how many daily driver D4s were out there as far back as...

    The Thrift Stores today

I've been buying up a lot of waterless cookware from Lustre Craft, Healthcraft, Lifetime, VitaCraft etc. Lately. Stores usually charge $3-5 a pan and apparently are unaware just how expensive that stuff is these days. Vacuums have been kind of sparrse in quality or condition for the price. My...

Strange things at Sears vacuum department

This is irrelevant to their financial situation from what I've observed. They could be redoing the department like they did ours, it's moved twice in two years and vacuums are now on gondola style shelves as opposed to along the wall. They expanded mattresses in ours and moved luggage to where...

    Rainbow hepa filter question

I don't see any reason it would hurt anything, it's mostly there for non wettables so they can get the asthma and allergy certification. It shouldn't have any real effect otherwise if you remove it but be aware non wettables would just blow back out.

    Fantom has no suction

Properly working, I'm convinced the 11 amp Fantom is the best bagless cyclonic vacuum ever made. You could run them for years and the only thing on that HEPA filter was carbon dust from the motor brushes.
