Can felt be added to bottom of Hoover Constellation ring?

The.... bottom ring on the retro Connies has five inserts evenly spaced. I don't know what they are made of....could be composite. The retro Connies do everything better than the originals. They were designed that way. I haven't fired up an original Connie in yrs. Kevin

    Lux 1205

Yeah..... that would be part of the motor inspection/cleaning job. But it's a good point often overlooked by many. Kevin

    Lux 1205

I think...... it's a brush/armature thing to be honest. I'd thoroughly test the armature, put in new brushes if it pasts the test, use a brush stone on the commutator and I'd bet it will quit...if not, time for another motor. I've got new armatures somewhere too in boxes.....might warrant...

    Lux 1205

Jon.... thanks. I was VERY happy to get that 1205 back. The motor rpm varies and I have to get into that someday. My plan is to put aside time to devote to all the 1205's, the G's and the Super J's and then miscellaneous. If I group them that way, they actually may get done. Yeah, that...

    Lux 1205

Interesting theory....... on the PN3s'. I could swear I saw one in a Candian discussion about vintage Electrolux vacs. I think I only have one PN2 and it's a metal polished Anniversary model. I had it apart waiting on that bottom pigtail....finally found one, but never got around to finishing...

    Lux 1205

I always like..... a story or provenance with a vacuum. Something that's changed hands a lot or considered mostly junk is just stuff you find. If you're showing folks your vacuums it helps to have stories. I wound up with a lot of PN1's when I was collecting....some are still waiting to be...

    Apraisal ?

There's no..... real pricing standard on vintage vacuums. It's pretty much whatever you can get for them. Lots of insurance companies would honer an 'average' price from eBay for a particular model say over a yrs time. But....they don't have to. An agent could go to Craigslist/Facebook and...

    Electrolux model F

Might be..... different on the F model too....but I kinda think they are the same or similar. Kevin

    Electrolux model F

I'd be wary..... about that eBay seller with the hoses. Yeah, they look "beautiful" but some of them could leak like a sieve....especially the 1205 hose. And typically if I ask them about hose leakage, they either lie or act confused/insulted at the query. I've been the recipient of both...

Electrolux Diamond Jubilee needs new brushes

I used to buy..... brushes on eBay for that motor. Maybe even from one of the vacuum shops. Anyway it wasn't an issue but I haven't rebuilt a DJ in about 5yrs. Glad you found a solution. Kevin

    HELP!!!

Pot metal..... can be welded too with enough surface area.....but you REALLY have to know what you're doing.I've seen it done. Aluminum is easy with a good TIG welder. But unless you know someone in the biz, or a welder personally, shops charge like $100/hr plus these days. So like I said...

    HELP!!!

Could be...... welded....depends on the material. Probably not worth the effort if parts are available. Kevin

    Electrolux Model G Help Needed

I would..... stay away from sheet rock dust and fireplace ash. Even though the machines can handle them, they cause residual trouble.....especially sheet rock dust. Let a wet & dry vac swallow that stuff. It will be hard and that too.....but it's a W&D not a G....lol. Kevin

    Repairing Woven Cloth Hoses

NIB....... can still age out. Just like a car that just sits in a garage, it will continue to age out. Kevin

    Electrolux Model G Help Needed

The link...... is great. Replace all that old tubing. Tubing is standard size.....take some with you to a hardware store. That may be all it needs to start working again. If not....you have to dig deeper into that system and test gaskets for leakage. Kevin

    Repairing Woven Cloth Hoses

I did..... find a commercial outlet online that sold long section of thin, clear heat shrink. I always wanted to try that as a possible hose repair. How stiff the hose would be after applying the heat shrink, I haven't a clue. Was about $40 for the material a few yrs ago........ Kevin

    Power Nozzle for Canadian Electrolux

Interesting...... feature. It's good you found the rivet in time. Yeah, replace it with a screw if that works well. I want one of the Canadian Elux's......but I may never get around to finding/buying one. Kevin

    Very Rare Rainbow

I was.... all gun-ho to get like a D2......but then I heard about the ash, talc and other substances that just bounce off the water and go back out. Still, we always had one growing up for dog hair and dust on hard floors. Kevin

    Hoover 450 motor problem

Assuming..... something the motor is turning isn't the problem....brushes, commutator, commutator segments, armature windings etc. Good YouTube vids on testing armatures. I have a 1205 motor doing exactly this, but haven't gotten into it yet....pretty sure it has fresh brushes. Kevin

Electrolux Diamond Jubilee needs new brushes

That motor..... on the right looks like a Lamb motor. They were often subbed in by dealers. I used to restore Diamond J's specifically and never saw an original DJ with the motor on the right. Don't wanna start a war...just sayin'.... Kevin
