    What Is Necessary To Keep/Save?

If it..... wasn't for pack rats and old NOS stuff, we'd have to continually buy donor vacs to keep going. So I say a solid YES to those that pack rat stuff. Unless of course you hoard(never sell, share or barter) and we have to wait for you to die to get access to your stuff. Kevin

    Cheap acquisition

Gawd...... why don't you ask if they'd take $3. I guess if they're foolish/desperate enough to take $10, it's on them. Kevin

    Christmas Mini Meet

As..... Charles said in the other thread, the OP is 13yrs old by his profile. ALL sorts of problems implicit in this ask.... Moderators need to squash this, methinks. Kevin

    Electrolux 1205 Door Pops Open

Even if...... you trust that the bags won't tear with sheet rock dust and fireplace ash....there's the issues of 'dead heading' your motor frequently or longer in duration as you want to finish the job with one bag. In anybody else's hands other than a collector/vac enthusiast, these old tanks...

    Electrolux 1205 Door Pops Open

I wouldn't...... suck up massive amounts of sheet rock dust or cold fireplace ash with an Electrolux tank. It's not that they can't do it, they can. The risk is too great that some of that stuff will pass through your motor. Less likely with a HEPA bag, but still. Use a wet&dry shop vac for...

    Vacuum shop stickers on vacuums

I think....... it's a matter of personal preference. It's nice to have provenance on a vac. Even if you don't want them on, you could remove them and drop them in an envelope along with the OM etc. Kevin

Electrolux Olympia 1401B Hose - Repair or Replace

It's well.... used for sure.....but I think it will clean up OK. But I'd ask the seller if it leaks and if he says no, then you can get your money back through PayPal if it does. Kevin.

Electrolux Olympia 1401B Hose - Repair or Replace

And.... I'll say it again...it has nothing to do with how one "TREATS" the hose. The chrome can start to flake off from the get go and they can also not fit the Sidekick and wand sheath properly. Just because you got one that worked makes it ridiculous to assume that other accounts of problems...

    Electrolux Model S is rescued!

Isn't this..... the model the salesmen used let suck itself(the tank part) to the bottom of a table? Kevin

Electrolux Olympia 1401B Hose - Repair or Replace

Yeah..... well I'm telling you the aftermarket hoses ARE likely to be inferior as not. It's hit & miss with Chinesium. The Aerus hose will be the real deal as far as quality. And believe me, I'm not partial to giving an Aerus dealer over $100 for just a vac hose. But the only worthwhile...

    Newbie Restorer - Electrolux 1401

The biggest..... problem with these old Electrolux tanks is that some PO will have sucked up something wet/moist. Typically, as these tanks age, owners devalue their service and do things to them they would not do to a newer vac. So.....you wind up with a fair amount of rust inside. Depending...

Electrolux Olympia 1401B Hose - Repair or Replace

Aftermarket hoses..... going into the early 2000's were OK....I have several. It was sometime after that the switchover went to all Chinesium. Last aftermarket hose I bought was about 4yrs ago. Chrome flaking off, would not fit my Sidekick until the chrome flaked off etc....lol. And don't...

Electrolux Olympia 1401B Hose - Repair or Replace

This....... topic has been brought up often in here. The aftermarket hoses now are all Chinesium. The quality is hit & miss. There are often OE hoses on eBay, but you'll have to communicate with the seller on the leaking/testing part. Another route is to contact Aerus and buy an OE hose from...

    M Wards by HOOVER

So..... Hoover upright bought around '74, pink, no light and snaps instead of a zipper is a "Special"? Kevin

    Central vac inlet??

I like MM's.... theory and I now do see the radiator valve....good eyes! If there ever was a radiator under the stairs, that is a logical place to put a vent; to let that warm air escape above the stairs and off to the side like that because most people had rug 'runner's' as pictured. Kevin

    Attachments

I think they..... can't make the horsehair soft again or the process is lost....or maybe it's even material available to them now etc. In any event, that horsehair duster is too stiff. I have many Elux horsehair dusters, so it's no problem. I certainly wouldn't pay for another Hoover horsehair...

    Attachments

Hmmmm..... "The attachments on the retro Connie are interesting. I'm told they have the Hoover logo on them, but they seem to have been made by a third party. They look nearly identical to the fit all tools on eBay. In fact you can buy the whole set of three small tools that look identical and...

What is the dirtiest/nastiest vacuum you've ever encountered?

My only.... beef was buying vacs on eBay and receiving their bags full of someone's dirt. I know it was just laziness....but to me, that's like urinating on something and then handed it to someone. Kevin

    New Old Stock Bissell Gemini!

While I've.... always been fascinated with these 'sweepers'....I consider them a stop gap measure;pull them out of the closet to touch up a carpet or clean some small, contained mess. However, I have seen them in smaller vacation homes or apartments where there are only a few thrown rugs or...

    Attachments

My guess.... is that it's always about convenience. People, the majority of, just don't like to fiddle with various attachments that much. The tool caddies and/or how you vacuum and carry all those tools around at the same time has always been an issue too....with various designed caddies or...
