I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

Well, it was on this site and referred to. I don't have it bookmarked, but I read it. Kevin

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

I take care of a 92-year-old friend. She has a Rainbow upstairs with a PN and an Electrolux Diamond Jubilee downstairs with a PN and floor tools. I have many Electrolux vacs....the DJ I pull out when I'm having company and doing serious cleaning. It's a force of nature. I also have the carbon...

I have Rainbow Rep coming to my house

This is absolutely bang on. In lab tests, certain detritus particulates known to be common in houses bounce right off the water and head for the exhaust. Before they had the HEPA exhaust filters(generations of Rainbows), those particulates made it back out into the living space. I believe talc...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

In summary, I'd have to say Electrolux did it well in the door-to-door sales arena and with honestly good products. I think the landscape of abuse and mistrust is so prevalent today that those old sales models no longer work well. And in fact, it could be stated that it's not even safe for a...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

What that boy told me, who had once worked for me, about his immediate boss and the Kirby way of doing business was no less than shocking. He was literally a piece of meat trying to sell their vacuums with an elaborate contingency plan if you say 'no'. Kevin

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

Yeah, I have no use for Kiby anything. A good friend of ours back in the late '80s was talked into this gigantic, heavy Kiby and attendant arsenal. She was handicapped and was so delighted to have 'self-drive' forward.....and so my question was what happens when you have to pull the beast...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

Charlie McKee's own son came to this very forum.... reminiscing about the days of lore @Electrolux. He was treated very poorly(I thought) by the crowd up high on Mt Olympus here. And instead of coaxing out once-in-a-lifetime info about a virtual icon in the vacuum industry, they let him pass...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

Kirby's practice is to talk over your concerns and questions with high-pressure tactics. The old Electrolux way was to actually show you what their tanks could do. The aforementioned story about the rep who came to my farm.....she sucked up all the cold ashes from our airtight stove as part of...

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

Depends on the company and the specific sales rep's personality. Electrolux built its entire sales force on door-to-door sales. I'm sure there were some high-pressure bums, but overall, your Electrolux rep stayed with you for decades or until they retired/died. I know many women who looked...

    Testing the waters

MA as in Massachusetts?? Holy cow, you couldn't be any further from me...lol. I live in WA state. Wished I was closer....you have a wish for metal body Electrolux tanks. I have them back to the 'G' unrestored. I bought a whole collection of Electrolux parts and vacs from a dealer who had been...

    Dustbuster 9333 through 9338

Great! I'm just looking for parts to fix a really nice 9338. Batteries I replace and solder in new ones. Internal parts are unobtainium so I have to scavenge from donors. What do you want for it and what's your zipcode for shipping? Kevin

    Reviving Dustbuster Talk

Necro thread! But any of the original Dustbusters can be fixed with new ni-cad batteries. The batteries are better than the originals. I'm thinking of starting a service. Doubt there's any money in it? Takes about an hr and more for a complete clean up....assuming there's no damage from...

Looking for these units just for parts. Don't throw them away!

How old is this New Old Stock Dustbuster I will be buying?

Fixing vintage dustbusters These aren't that hard to fix. The problem is almost always leaking/dead cells. Pull the unit apart, see how the batteries are configured, buy 'sub C ni-cad' rechargeable batteries to replace them. They are 1.2 volts each. The most I've seen starting with model 9333...

    Electrolux 1205 Motor Rebuild

That can.... be mended with a good plastic epoxy(not JB Weld).....there's epoxy out there just for the task, albeit expensive. Use a Dremel bit to groove out the cracked area...a V groove is best. Let epoxy joint cure for days....don't get in a hurry to reassemble. Eastwood makes a heat kit...

    Hoover 28!!!

Yep...... G's have held nice value for the eBay collector crowd for some yrs now. Many yrs ago on eBay some couple became heirs to a substantial number of Elux vacs. They had G's coming out of their ears and others.....all kinds of accessories.....PN's, wands....you name it. They just wanted...

    Electrolux 1205 Motor Rebuild

They are..... available through Aerus. They were sending me the pre-filters automatically on my card. I had to stop that because they were piling up. I don't change them with the same frequency as Aerus suggests. And personally, I think they're wrong on their change interval. They fit in my...

    Hoover 28!!!

I'm sorry..... but without the filter setup as per factory, their value to a collector diminishes. I certainly wouldn't pay any premium price for a Hospital G without the filter setup. I'm not trying to denigrate your collection, just giving an opinion. Nice set of G's in the pic! Kevin
