What a Stressful Weekend it Was - Please Read This...

Robert, Thank you so much for your behind-the-scenes actions of running this site and keeping it up. I enjoy it and appreciate the simplicity of it. I hope you can pass on the baton to another member or group who will keep it going just the way it is (at least). Keep up the great work...

    Old phones

Nice old phones - I like em, and prefer them! However I am spoiled by cordless for convenience. I am probably the last one in the city to have a COPPER LINE landline. I am waiting for the day it just disappears. My GF 20 years back had one also, along with an old desk pushbutton phone...

Working Kirby Classic III - as-is, or I can rebuild for you

I tried this offer on craigslist for many months but got nothing other than a scrapper wanting it for free. It is in too nice a condition to part out or scrap so I will offer it here before I decide to donate it to my favorite thrift store. This machine is one of the last whole vacuums I had...

Cord rewinder assembly from pre-80's vac

This has been in my power cord box since the early 80's when I had removed it from a trash-picked vacuum. If I had not needed it for 40 years, I doubt I ever will. I do not know the make, model, or style of vac it went in. The rewind spring still retracts it and the cord looks okay. If you...

Fully restored Kirby G6 year 2000 Ltd Edition with all attachments and boxes

As much as I like this set, and how nice it is, I have replaced it with a G5 as I liked its color much more. I do not have the space to store the G6 (and I'm partial to the older models) so I am offering it for sale here at a great price (for what you get). It was fully restored in 2018 by...

    Goodwill Play Day Again

looks a bit like shill bidding to me... It is not even a sealed box, and the box is torn. I have an old toaster in its original box - guess it is worth a fortune, lol..

    Cleaning Outer Bag Kirby

Human, if you are having trouble getting the bags back onto the emtors, check out my tips and tricks page on how to get them back on easily. No tools - just your feet and big toe, some strong fingers, and a backwards rolling motion. You roll the spring back on, rather than try to stretch it...

    Cleaning Outer Bag Kirby

a word about washers... Always wash by hand first to get the worst. If you do use a washing machine like I do for the final touch, do only for 6 minutes or so, on delicate (slow) cycle. I spin it on low for only a couple minutes also so it will not crease. I have a vintage top-load washer...

    Cleaning Outer Bag Kirby

I have washed many bags, some nasty, some clean. My process is the same though. This applies to bags from the 1960s to today. Wear a dust mask (if very dirty) and always nitrile gloves. I do it all outside and take my time. Remove all removable hardware and attachments Empty bag outside...

Watch those Kirby's. They will hurt you.

I am a bit surprised that the manuals for the G series do not have recommendation of wearing house shoes. In the video 'manuals' the operators are shown with shoes on but they are not specifically recommended.

    2 New RARE finds

NICE!! I would love to have a Vacuette some day, just for its simplicity. Personally I would choose the easier one first. Get it done and over and be primed up for the more time consuming one. I have more of a chance on projects being completed this way, also...

    Kirby Classic III

OMG, is that a G5 zip brush in picture 16?? That is one of the last pieces I need for my newly restored G5.. Sure wish I lived nearby, but then I would have most of that Kirby stuff already!

    "Nearby" on Craigslist

On the plus side for me, less projects to start and not finish and not have space for, lol...

    Kirby Classic III

"Very early ones had a flawed thin handle grip that was often replaced." I have one of these hand grips and I can see why. It got a very derogatory name from the Kirby service guys as a result (won't say it here).

My First Kirby - Heritage II - Restoration Thread

Ah - the BPI brushroll performance indicator. I forgot about that. I believe that came in mid-model run as well.

    "Nearby" on Craigslist

I am convinced that CL is dead. I have listed a lot of good stuff for cheap, just to try to clear it out and get some gas money to support my hobbies and scavenging operations. For 6 months I have not gotten any replies on anything, not even from scammers or low-ballers. Keep in mind that I...

    Kenmore floor fan

Nice score - I like these hassock fans. Yours looks to be from the late 50s-early 60s with its mostly metal construction and grill design. Yes, these are from an era where they were completely serviceable. 90W is pretty economical. The advantage of this design is that they suck the cooler air...

Watch those Kirby's. They will hurt you.

I wish you a quick recovery - I know the feeling. I constantly hurt my toes on them when around them, thanks to my evolving clumsiness. I have ran the self propelled Kirby into my feet a few times also. Luckily i have hard bones. I should start wearing house shoes to prevent the flesh wounds...

My First Kirby - Heritage II - Restoration Thread

The light has always been in the hood, not in the nozzle assy. I do believe the 'wings' were removed in later models to reduce costs. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. Always glad to help others save these fine machines!

    Recent Restorations

So darn cool! Excellent work and devotion to the hobby. You practically have a museum in the making! I need to finish that little handheld you sent me long ago this winter. I at least got the metal polished in spring... Too many projects, too little time and strength...
