How loud is this whistle? Is it heard over the sound of the motor? As I recall, when the wrapper (bag) was almost full it would whistle indicating it was ready to eject. Maybe you should check all rubber parts. As I say, this machine would be 72 years old.

I'm talking about the round rubber gaskets with the plunger that activates the ejection lever and opens the front cover.

Paul, can you explain the reason for the screw under the latch on the front cover of the early model LX?

Electrolux Model LX gasket. Hi Charles: My guess is age, after all it would be 72 years old. I think the rubber has cracked, or simply worn out. Things like this are common for vacuums this old.

What a goldmine the XXX was. Electrolux called it 'The Dirt Digger.' It was the top of the line from 1937 till 1955 with the introduction of the LX.

What a goldmine the XXX was. Electrolux called it 'The Dirt Digger' and was the longest model in production, 1937-1954, (some say up to 1955.) As it was the high end model over the XX, was the lower when the LX came out in 1952.

Great marketing pitch, I have both, but I prefer the XXX. As these were both prewar (May of 41)the best was yet to come with the postwar XXX and a myriad of attachments.

Thank you Paul, I can add this information to what I have on the early stages of development. All my patent books are of the model LX in the late 1940's and up to 1952.

All it needs now is the Companion.
