1486 A Here is a new one to me.. model 1486.. the color is really attractive. Almost a turquoise blue. I can't find much info on this model. I assume late 80 is when it was made?

Yes, The cordless handhelds that went with the Kirby Heritage II are rare! The car vacs with the cigarette lighter plug are common..

Yes RD is the correct style. As belts get older (especially the round belts) can become dry rotted. You might try a new package. If the belt does not stretch easily then it is probably bad.    If the roller brush spins freely. Then it is probably the belt. I would try a new package.

Good for you!  Maybe bad for us. I can't seem to find any place that sells belts or bags anymore besides Walmart. Even some locations of ACE hardware stores do not carry them.

I still think central vacs are the future! Although I personally wouldn't want one. I can see the need for them in the field. Especially in new construction. If I wanted to own a vac business, I personally believe that installing/servicing central vacs is the direction I would go. Eventually...
