    VCCC convention June 20th

Pics will be updated on our official site! They are also in the Facebook vacuum groups. I feel like posting stuff here is counterproductive. Since most collectors have moved to Facebook. We did have a good turn out 45 people with the film crew! Attached are a few pictures that I have.

    Vacuum’s caught on fire

My mother told me in her teenage years that it was her responsibility to vacuum the house. She was vacuuming with a Kirby (not sure which model) 1970s and was using the hose around the fireplace and accidentally sucked in a live coal. The Kirby was smoking so my grandmother put it outside on the...

What vacuums do/did your parents or grandparents use?

In 1985, the year I was born. My relatives were not using new vacuums. The exception being my mother and great-grandmother who were using Hoover Convertibles that were fairly recent for the time. (see post above). Even though I'm not yet 40. I'm so thankful I wasn't born in the cheap Walmart...

Eureka Rugulator belt issue. I'm new to owning a vintage vacuum

Yes RD is the correct style. As belts get older (especially the round belts) can become dry rotted. You might try a new package. If the belt does not stretch easily then it is probably bad.    If the roller brush spins freely. Then it is probably the belt. I would try a new package.

    Great Hoover deal!

Good for you!  Maybe bad for us. I can't seem to find any place that sells belts or bags anymore besides Walmart. Even some locations of ACE hardware stores do not carry them.

Thrifted find, Hoover Futura 4.3 canister

Yep, Paul is correct! Also, the online archive of Sears and JCPenney catalogs will also have some good info.  I did have the same pinkish model some time ago. Recently, I found two of the black and white Futura models with the chrome wands and the same rug/floor tool you have pictured. ...

Major Shift in the Central Vacuum Industry

I just realized Superior vacuums is located in Canada and so is Nuera Air. Since this is being posted on a US based site. I'm assuming this will also affect the US as well? If so, I didn't realize the US central vac industry imported so much from Canada forgive me for my ignorance. I'm not a...

Major Shift in the Central Vacuum Industry

I still think central vacs are the future! Although I personally wouldn't want one. I can see the need for them in the field. Especially in new construction. If I wanted to own a vac business, I personally believe that installing/servicing central vacs is the direction I would go. Eventually...
