    Question about ge Roll easy

The original hose was turquoise vinyl, and they split a lot. Like a LOT. That was the replacement about 1960 when they went back to the rubber hose with braiding. Try pushing in on the hose inlet tube before trying to pull it out.

    Vintage Kenmore Thread

Beevac I have the attachment converter for these models. It plugs directly into the back. I have a question for you about the bearings in the 719. Do the bearings have to be replaced in their entirety, or is there a shield that is removable so that you can re-grease the original bearing? If...

I stopped by a local vac shop to explore around in its graveyard...

I made the decision a few years ago to take all the 'boneyard' machines in my vac shop to the dumpster. If new repair parts are not available, I'm not storing old vacs to take a used part off to fix someone's cleaner. I've sold a lot of new vacuums that way, plus I don't have to keep crap just...

The genius Sears vacs from Birtman Electric

The first KenKart showed up by 1950. For someone who used all of their attachments all of the time, this was a wonderful machine. Many people don't realize that it could be operated horizontally as well as vertically. This one is one of the jewels of my collection. Mine was made in 1954. In one...

The extraordinarily rare 1955 Kenmore KenMaid. I've never seen another one other than mine.

The genius Sears vacs from Birtman Electric

Mid 1970's Kenmore "Sears Best" with powermate. What an amazing machine to use with its two speed motor, full bag indicator, 10 foot hose, and solid-state power nozzle belt protection.

The genius Sears vacs from Birtman Electric

In 1958, Sears brought out the power mate attachment for their Lady Kenmore Vacuum. Thanks to my friend Hans I have one in my collection. Over built, over engineered, and over thought, it was the very first. I love it, I use it, and it still works fabulously.

The genius Sears vacs from Birtman Electric

One of my favorites was the Lady Kenmore Whispertone. It used the same two speed lamb motor that filter queen used in their machine. Just think, by 1962, Sears had the electric pistol grip hose and L shaped power nozzle with a headlight, A two speed motor, a full bag indicator, and full...

The genius Sears vacs from Birtman Electric

Many people have a favorite Sears Kenmore vacuum in their collection. In getting my collection ready for sale, as we are closing the museum, I have been re-introduced to the genius that was coming out of Chicago in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Here is a Kenmore "top of the line" upright from 1953...

UPS pack and ship could get it to you.

Lewyt vintage vacuums and new-old electric razors

I'd be willing to let sell it to someone who will take care of it and appreciate it. Very reasonable price. Can't ship as it has the hassock, would have to be picked up by someone.

Lewyt vintage vacuums and new-old electric razors

I have a 1955 Lewyt Big Wheel in its original hassock, for sale. The small attachments store in the back of the cleaner. The bare floor tool and sprayer and moth snufficator Are in their own box along with the bags and the chlorophyll tablets and the instruction book.

    Hoover Lark

Barry: It was an aluminum neck to the nozzle, and they polished it so it would shine. The machine figured into the story line, and they actually used it on the show. It was returned to me without the disposable bag that was sent with it. Not to worry, I have lots more.

    Hoover Lark

I love my Lark. I loaned it to the TV Show "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and they returned it to me better than it left. Now that I'm liquidating the contents of the Vacuum Cleaner Museum, it's one of the machines going up for auction.

    Over priced?

I'm sitting on a FORTUNE just in new old stock Kirby parts. "Say Cheese" girls, eBay here we come.

What vacuums do you recommend to people?

I always recommend that someone NOT spend a lot of money on a vacuum. Doesn't get you much, especially for a modern person who has little to no carpets. Today, a small suction-only canister with a good bare floor brush is ideal, or a Shark (which is what most everyone want anyway). I listen...

    Stan's Torrington C

So glad to help you with that machine. Look at those wonderful Hoover boxes as well! Very nice to have been able to spend some time with you last week.

Regina Duo-Vac - Value for Pristine Example?

I remember them when they were new. Lots of problems. I'm shocked one survived, but it probably wasn't used. I just (within the last two weeks) threw away six packages of genuine bags for that machine. I didn't think any of them were still here. I traded one in on a Rainbow D3 in the early...

    What do you, think...

I put stuff on eBay, but for the past few years the auctions never went to completion. Someone called and bought it from me before the auction ended or came by to buy it. I've emptied the Vacuum Museum's collection by half already, and they are all going to go.
