A lesson in order and neatness! I have to admire the way that you carefully lay out those Hoovers Jack! As for the back of my own car, oh dear.. When I went to Graeme's in Newcastle at the end of 2008 I managed to get 23 vacuums in the back of my Cavalier! ..but I do have to be careful not to...

    And then there's this...

I love it! I'd love to have that machine...but I didn't see the listing, since I'm not constantly checking US Ebay plus you don't always know quite where to look. Also I'm not sure if he/she would post to the UK...but if I see anything like that I often email to see if they'll do it for you...

    Hoover Celebrity S3005

A law against basements/cellars? Alan I don't know if there's a law against basements/cellars in Florida? They're not especially common over here and it's mainly older Victorian houses, like my parents' property that have them. Speaking of Florida I've got an old machine on its way from...

    Hoover Celebrity S3005

Another Pristine example, Jack! It's always nice to get virtually unused machines in their original boxes like that. Mind you, it would put me off using the machine, since I'd want it to stay that way! Al, we have a dry basement here but unfortunately dad fills it with all his books..so I have...

    Black & Decker Flex

vac or blower? I'd say that the inspiration for this design has come from looking at petrol leaf-blowers..

I had one like that! I had one of those in for repair but there was an open circuit fault on the motor unit. I priced up the motor for the customer but it was over £100 at the time, which he didn't want to pay, so he gave me the machine..then, one day, I had to make some more room and it got...

Another one of Vacuumlands regulars is a TV STAR.

Good Luck James! Good luck with the shop James; it reminds me about the days when I had a shop, started in 1995 - 'Vac Attack'! I used to get a lot of Hoover Turbos and 500 series in for repair at one time, followed by Dysons. Then I branched out into mowers, one of my other interests, since...

    Hoover Building, London

Wonderful Building Jack! I'm so pleased that this wondeful building is still around Jack - to think that not long ago there was talk of knocking it down?...but now it's been restored. It's a shame about the damage to the floor; I seem to remember you saying something about that. ..and how...

Parents out at last so chance to take one or two photos!

Forgot to mention.. Charles I forgot to mention that the Westinghouse machine does have a cord reel in the handle and that the flex retracts when you pull on the string. Stephen

Thanks Guys! Dave, Hans & Charles, Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you like the machines and my attempts to improvise. Sorry for the slow reply but I've been on 12 hour shifts for the last three days so I'm getting home rather tired to check emails...but at least I'm off tomorrow! I could...

I'm still scared... Even to this day, there's still some of them that scare me.. As a kid, the older upright models, in particular, like the Hoover 370 were scary. I used to sometimes put the machine in a different room to where I got somebody else to plug it in, in case it blew up!

Westinghouse bag? In the meantime, teddy is looking for a bag for his Westinghouse vacuum cleaner. This is a 240 volt model but I'm unsure whether anything similar was made in the US. If nothing materialises I think I'll eventually try to bend a piece of aluminium to form some kind of tube...

Bag Logo This view shows the writing on the bag. I also have a smaller GEC upright, with tubular motor housing (like on the Hoover 370), which has a similar bag and logo and another one with a motor casing more in the style of a 115/119.
