Hi everyone,

I’m about to buy this Dyson V15 Detect and I’m not 100% sure if it’s genuine.

Could you please take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think?

Things that make me suspicious:
– The price seems lower than usual.
– The logo and color look slightly different compared to some online photos.
– I can’t verify the serial number on Dyson’s website.

Any help would be appreciated — I just want to make sure it’s not a counterfeit before I pay for it.

Thanks a lot! 🙏

It should have a manufacturers tag on it somewhere that says who made it. Never heard of anyone counterfeiting Dysons. Copies with different names but not outright counterfeits. Others can chime in.

I am going to guess it's a FAKE. Yes, the vacuum body itself looks genuine - BUT the tools itself are the clues here. The powerhead looks like the aftermarket copy of the V8/early V10 powerhead. The Dyson mini powerhead isn't the correct version, that would be the hair screw mini powerhead that would be included if it was a genuine V15 purchased new from Dyson. Also, notice that the combination dusting brush is slightly lighter colored gray than the mattress tool and crevice tool. Plus where's the dock that would be included with a new Dyson?

Also, believe it not, EVERY SINGLE PIECE PICTURED is available to buy on AliExpress! The motor unit, filter, bin, charger, battery, wand, battery, tools....EVERYTHING. It would be VERY POSSIBLE for someone to buy & assemble all the parts & "make" their own Dyson stick vacuum from non-OEM parts. Yes, it is possible that someone has a like-new Dyson V15 and bought some aftermarket parts to replace broken or lost parts to put it up for sale....but I wouldn't touch it unless they post a pic of the battery label with all the info on it. In today's world, it is most likely FAKE!

I stand corrected! I thought it might just be an older version or different kit than mine.

If this is a bootleg, this is the first I have seen one so well done. I'd love to have one. Once Sir James finds out about this he will send his agents out to disappear that person, surely.

The accessory tools are the wrong type of plastic from Dyson and the sticker labels on the vacuum are poor quality and bubbled, real Dyson stickers anyone knows need a blowtorch to get them off!

The only other thing I can suspect is it is a reamanufactured motor unit with the serial number blacklisted so it cant be warrantied, and then someone bought AliExpress tool kit, and stuck it all on there and is trying to sell it as a brand new unit.

Well that answers that! That is insane. What a shame its so expensive. This likely wont last. And those prices are 100% fraud.

A submarine vacuum cleaner huh? I wonder to what depths it can clean at? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Maybe the Chinese navy uses them to clean their submarines, lol. As an old ASW helo pilot I wish they did because the acoustic signature of a Dyson would be detectable for a long long way under water. Like a beacon for our sensors and weapons.
