Founded on this date in 1775, the U. S. Marine Corps is 250 years old! Thank you to all the brave patriotic men and women—including my dad and cousin—who have served in its ranks.

Scarlet and gold are the official colors of the organization, so I rounded up some online photos of electric cleaning appliances in similar colors.

Add others if you like.

Maybe there will be one next year...
I've been playing with my own older Patriot this week experimenting with some synthetic closed top HEPA dust bags. Just filled a Johnny Vac bag for a Ghibli backpack vac and it worked good but I had to trim the mounting card quite a bit to make it fit. Tonight I filled that bag and tried the good synthetic bag from Vortech for their XR3000 ( which I also have ) and that bag required less trimming to fit the Patriot. Just trim a wee bit off each side in a straight line and it fits good. The standard Stormy open top bag bites and do the Tristar aftermarket synthetic bags. The darned lid is angled, dirt piles up against the underside of the lid and when you open it dirt spills out everywhere. No way to do a clean bag change. Tried their Hybrid bag but it leaks dust like crazy. The Vortech bag is the bag to use. Keeps everything clean inside.
