Split level central vacuum

Who on here has a split level central vacuum or you?

Can you please post a video of turning the unit on I want to hear what the volume sound level sounds like if noisy or quiet can anyone please do this??

Ok but why can’t I see a video of them running, instead of anyone telling me about the decibels I just want to hear what they sound like that was the whole point to my threads is to see videos of split central vac units running! And all I’m getting is the decibel ratings and that is not what I’m asking for! I’m not a rude person or trying to sound rude or anything all I’m politely asking for is to hear what a split central vac sounds like, no decibel rates just a simple video of the split unit running that is all no harm no foul1
 
Videos can be misleading, they may give you an idea but they can't exactly tell you completely of how loud or quiet they actually are. The only real way to tell is not only hear one in person but also have a decibel meter next to it. For example this one was definitely quieter on camera.



Regarding split systems, generally they are louder because most of them are dual motor units even my next door neighbor's Silent Partner is very loud. Unless if they have the same motor as the one piece units, they are the same. There was one before that was actually one of the more quieter units I've ever used and that would be the VacuMaid S2600. I wouldn't have minded owning one if VacuMaid was still using the same colors and logo as this one hence that's one of the reasons why VacuMaid is my all time favorite central vacuum brand. But from a consumer point of view, they are not only more expensive but also I've noticed from experience they clog up the screens more than the one piece units unless if you have a bagged canister that goes with the motor.

I’ve seen and heard all of yours on YouTube dozens of times. I’m not sure anyone is understanding me or listening to me I want to see an actual video of a split unit running, I don’t need the decibel ratings that is not helping me any bit i just want a video of a split unit running not a decibel.
 
My Beam Rugmaster Plus with a rubber belt is more louder than the MD Stealth with a cogged belt I used to have. But yes I agree that central vacs are usually more quieter than portables. Even that VacuMaid S2600 I mentioned earlier was even quieter than the upright that place also had when I used to vacuum over there.

It's a bit confusing since there are so many videos of exactly what you are asking online already. I linked one in your other thread earlier, but a quick search on your end would find you several much, and faster than it would take us to go take and upload yet another.

Roger that !!! Rubber stretch belt or not, the Rugmaster ( Rugmuncher ) and the Hoover Quadraflex are both LOUD. Really loud. Both motors are screamers. Both remind me of wood chippers. The Lindhaus power nozzle is very quiet.

Interestingly I found a bracket on eBay that lets you use a Tristar / Filter Queen style power nozzle motor in the Hoover Quadraflex and that switch makes the Quadraflex nice and quiet. The change compliments the silent running Dimension 1000.

I don’t think you understand me, and I promise I’m not trying to sound rude, but I don’t need details about how loud the belt in the power head is I want to see an actual video on how loud the the split units are and please note decibel rates do not count I don’t need to know that all I want is to see an ctual video of a split unit it running no decibels or telling me about decibels.

True, the older Eureka/Beam models have a sealed motor which is quieter also than the open armature motor. I also have a Beam Imperial for soft carpets with a cogged belt and florescent light. Not quiet.

You could visit a dealer and they should have demonstration models set up for testing.

I have very limited experience with central vacuums but the places I have seen them used like some hair salons and veterinary offices you could not hear the power unit. All you could hear was the wooosh of air and the sound of a power nozzle if one was being used.
 
My grandfather in his house has a Cen-Tec CT14DX nozzle made by Panasonic for his VacuMaid central vac, it uses a geared belt. He also has a Panasonic made Kenmore 2621 canister vacuum at his cabin which the nozzle is basically a Cen-Tec CT18DXQD, that one doesn't have a geared belt but rather a Poly-V and it's definitely quieter than the VacuMaid nozzle.





What's the purpose to hear what a split system sounds like? One of the whole ideas of a central vacuum in the first place is to not hear the power unit running while you're vacuuming inside, it reduces the noise. In fact even though the VacuMaid nozzle is technically louder than the Kenmore nozzle, the Kenmore is overall louder to vacuum with because I have the canister running next to the nozzle. That's one of the other reasons why I'd rather not own a split system because I'd want my system to be as quiet as possible. I'd hate to be like the house next door where I'm always hearing the Silent Partner running whenever I go outside, it's pretty loud.

I’ve just never heard them running before, next time your outside if you hear it running can you record the the noise and share it on here please? If you can?
 
My camera microphone likely won't pick up the sound from the distance, that's why I said earlier that videos can be misleading. But I do however have pictures, see other thread. Since that post, I bet someone finally got a cone for it because the pipes and walls used to be so dirty but not anymore. I'm sure that's why one of the motors went bad but it should've been bagged in the first place.

Vacguy1984, I believe I know what you are asking. You want a video with sound of a central vacuum system where the motor module is separated from the trash tank. These units are extremely rare (except the Vacumaid P325) and thus you will not find much documentation of them. I do not believe you would find any of these at a VacShop display because it is not the normal products they want to sell. From MD (Hide-a-Hose) we build maybe 3-4 per year and they are going into unique applications such as Vet Centers or commercial applications. And they will sound identical to their counterpart where the motor module is attached to the trash tank.
 
Very cool, thanks for sharing! If I really wanted a split system, I'd rather get a bagged MD with a cyclonic separator like this for example by Pittsburg Central Vacuum. I've seen some dealers put in three different VacuMaid units like this for example by Ford's VacuMaid, I think that's too much for me.

Here's a short clip of testing out a 25 year old dual motor Vacu-Maid S3200...technically a split can unit but the canisters are mounted right next to each other (pretty typical).

This unit would not have been this loud when it was new, but thanks to many years of debris passing through the filterless cyclonic separator and into the impellers, it's ear piercing.

"Silent Partner" lol. With that high pitched tone, I wonder if it might benefit from new bearings.

I remember that system! It was from one of your blogs online I've read years ago, should've been called "Not So Silent Partner by VacuMaid".

But why are they rare? I understand they are hard to come across to document, I was asking in general if anybody who lives in a home with a split central vac unit if they could video their unit running and I can hear what they sound like. That was all I was asking!
 
My 10.5 amp 2 stage Lamb motor never got that loud. Just some minor squealing you only heard when it shut off. Then one day it just seized up. The original brushes were still very good. It did last 28 years.
 
To the OP, if you ever make it out to Denver CO, let me know, and we can spend an entire day schlepping my collection of power units, one by one, over to the power outlet and hear them run, feel the suction, connect up and play with the vintage inlets and attachments and all that fun stuff.

Thank you I might just do that someday! Can you show me some pics of your units you have and a video of them running? I would really love to see that!

I shouldn’t have used language like that my apologies.
I should have said in the first place, wow you weren’t kidding that is the loudest one I’ve heard so far that sounds like it needs new bearings or greasing!
